Featured Friday Morning Shuffle - Pavement Confessions Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

I am back.  After a three day work-related trip, I am back and ready to officially close out the first half of 2017.  Since, I missed a couple of days and still have tons of music to present, I will probably continue spinning from the "New Music" Playlist into next week before reverting back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Time is short... let's shuffle!

"Walk in the Mud" by Mike Younger

First up, we have our first listen to Nashville singer-songwriter Mike Younger with a track from his album Little Folks Like You and Me which is due out July 21st.  He has a CD Release Show scheduled for The Family Wash on July 31.  The album was produced by the legendary Bob Britt (Bob Dylan, Delbert McClinton, John Fogerty, Leon Russell).  Much more to come.

"Sunshine Funshine" by Joel Thomas

Another first listen - Joel Thomas is a 22 year old singer-songwriter from Liverpool.  He is signed to Edge Hill University's in-house record label - The Label. This is his first release with them - which is included on a Summer Sampler which came out back at the beginning of this month.

"Wishing Well" by Kent Eugene Goolsby

East Nashville's own Kent Eugene Goolsby is up next with a track from his most recent album Temper of the Times.  Watch for his lovely wife Anna in the video (playlist below).

"Coming Home to You" by Owen Campbell

One of my favorites from 2016 - Owen Campbell is a bluesy roots singer-songwriter from Australia.  His most recent release is called Breathing Bullets.

"I Wouldn't Lay My Guitar Down" by Mark Robinson

Mark Robinson's upcoming release Live at The 5 Spot is getting some well-deserved buzz in both blues and Americana circuits.  The album really captures the electrifying show that he and his band put on every single time they hit the stage.

"The Pursuit of Loneliness" by Nick Nace

Coincidentally, the second song in a row by an artist that played during the E2TG Residency which was already a month ago!!!!  I first heard Nick Nace the night the played at The 5 Spot, but I (and just about everyone who's heard him) have become a big fan.  Canadiana Americana is the name of his release.

"pavements crawlin" by Pat Power

As heard on Double Shot with Joe and Sue on WXNA.  Pat Power is 1/2 of E2TG Band of the Year (2016) Valued Customer. He recently released a solo EP called Original Nature.   Classically trained, with interests in diverse, under-heart world music and eastern philosophy.  He is hands down one of the most talented people I have ever run across. Equally at home playing Ukrainian folk music or his own unique experimental stuff. Give his music a listen and prepare to be blown away.

"confession" by Ugggy

Another E2TG Coincidence - the other 1/2 of Valued Customer - Ugggy is up next with a track from STŒND ALŒN (uncollected thots). Tomorrow being the first - Ugggy is prepared to release his fifth album in as many month.  Ugggy brings the hip hop to Valued Customer.  Dig this music, too and understand why I think so highly of Valued Customer.

"Words Won't Come" by Carol and Dale

Next - another track from Be Here Now.   Carol and Dale may be the polar opposite of Valued Customer, but the connection to me is that all are artists who are passionate about the music they make.

"Wonderland" by Kristin Hersh

And we close things out with another track from Wyatt at the Coyote Palace by former Throwing Muses member Kristin Hersh. Have I mentioned how honored I am to have the chance to feature this album?
