Featured Friday Morning Shuffle - Dutch Baby Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Harvey hit Middle Tennessee last night and today. Obviously nothing like Texas, but tornado warnings and flooding all around.

Meanwhile, it's a big day for a couple of E2TG favorites.  2015 E2TG Artist of the Year, Jon Latham, releases his long awaited follow-up to Real Bad News.  Lifers is out on Cafe Rooster Records and available at a bunch of the usual places to find music.

Also, Ugggy (1/2 of 2016 Band of the Year, Valued Customer) releases his seventh mixtape in seven months today. It's called The H{ear}T Beet Tape.  Expand you mind and your horizons.
"smoke to it. . . .
rap to it. . . .
nap to it . . .
peace to all the gods . . ."

Meanwhile, it's Friday and we have a pretty wild mix of songs from our "New Music" playlist to feature today....

"They Call It Romantic" by Joe Kidd and Sheila Burke

This is, I believe, the last track for us to feature from Everybody Has a Purpose.  Joe and Sheila write and perform great songs with a connection to the folk music tradition but very much rooted in the present. There's is a positive message which they deliver with sincerity and art (not an easy combination to balance).

"You Make Me Want to Dance" by Robert Finley

The first of two tracks from Age Don't Mean a Thing but Louisiana based "roots soul" singer-songwriter.  Finley has a great story, and I really love this album.

"A Shiver of Want" by Black Needle Noise with Bill Leeb

Black Needle Noise is the solo project of producer John Fryer (of This Mortal Coil).  The album is called Lost in Reflections and features different collaborations including this one with Bill Leeb of Front Line Assembly.

"Tell It Like It Is" by Alyssia Dominguez

Next we have another track from Dance With Me by Wisconsin based singer-songwriter Alyssia Dominguez. Great pop-flavored country music.

"Down in the Valley" by Don Gallardo and How Far West

Next up, a live version of one of my favorites (of many) from Hickory - the most recent studio album from Don Gallardo. This is from the Live: Nashville Sunday Night album - from a really great show that I was happy to witness first hand.

"All This Time" by Lobelia

Next up, we have American-born, Birmingham UK based singer-songwriter Lobelia from her album Love or Something Like It.

"Entangled" by Matthew Sweet

Next, another great track from Matthew Sweet's most recent (double) album Tomorrow Forever. Digging this album.

"Infinite Decay" by Weird.

Some shoegazey, gloomy dream-pop from Rome, Italy. Off the album A Long Period of Blindness.

"Age Don't Mean a Thing" by Robert Finley

Our second track of the day from Robert Finley is the title track to his most recent album.  He is associated with the Music Maker Relief Foundation who I have written about several times before.

"Dutch Baby" by Discount Ravioli

To be honest, I was already at my desk when this track came on, but I just couldn't turn it off.  Off the 53 track Baby Arm Sessions release.... If you don't know what a Dutch Baby is look it up. I could not find a Discount Ravioli video so I substituted a TMBG cover by Flavored Cardboard - an associated band.
