Trending Tuesday Morning Shuffle - Life without Parole Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

I was a little under the weather yesterday, so this is my first shuffle of the week.  I hope you've been following my previews of the upcoming Magnolia Roads American Roots Hoedown III.  Part 1 was posted yesterday and featured Ben Sparaco.   Part 2 posted this morning and featured Don Gallardo.

It's Trending Tuesday and we have a few "first listens" plus some tracks from albums we have been featuring for a little while.

"Ritual" by Freevolt

First up, we have another great song from Open Up Your Door.  I have become a big fan of Freevolt - a great roots, reggae etc.  band from Massachusetts.

"Stand Alone" by Halfwait

Next up, we have the lead single from the forthcoming album Forever which is due out in June from this Australian grunge/punk band that formed in 2010 when the members were in high school.

"Breathe Less" by Bruno Merz

Bruno Merz is from New Zealand but based in Canada. His music is folk/pop. This single was released back in November, and this is our first listen the song was written by Reece Jacob - a singer-songwriter from Leeds UK - whom Merz toured with and fell in love with this song.

"New Year's Day" by Ben Arthur

Next up, our penultimate track to feature from American Castles - Ben Arthur's eighth album - and second featuring "answer songs". The songs are American Castle are mostly responses to short stories and essays.

"Happiness" by Poptone

I am super excited about this one- this is our first listen to Poptone from their self-titled album due out in June. Poptone features Daniel Ash and Kevin Haskins (Bauhaus, Love and Rockets, Tones on Tail) along with Haskin's daughter Diva Dompe. Our first listen is Happiness - a cover of a Tones on Tail song. It sounds fantastic.  The band features covers of all three predecessor bands plus some original songs. More to come!

"Comrades" by Rodney Cromwell

Next, we have a new song from UK EDM/Synthpop artist Rodney Cromwell - which is a project of Adam Cresswell (Saloon, Arthur and Martha).  Comrades is the newest single and the forthcoming Rodney's English Disco.  We previous featured his  EP Fax Machine Breakup.

"Swim" by Phantoms vs. Fire

Next, we have the title track and the first of two tracks from the album Swim by Phantoms vs. Fire - the project of artist Thiago C. Desant who is from Brazil and based in Italy. This is moving instrumental EDM music.

"Mama Tried" by Eric Andersen (Feat. David Bromberg)

Next up, we have a previously unreleased track from the Essential Eric Andersen. It is a cover of the Merle Haggard classic - by Andersen and multi-instrumentalist David Bromberg who work with Andersen on his classic Blue River album. A great rendition of a great song.

"The Invisible Sea" by Phantoms vs. Fire

And we close things out with another track from Swim by Phantoms vs Fire.
