All of this happened a long time ago when the world was a very different place. Of course, none of us knew that at the time.

I am grateful to have been asked to emcee this awesome event TONIGHT at the Radio Cafe in East Nashville.  Amelia White, Mark Huff - both backed by great bands, plus a couple of red hot UK singer-songwriters. All that and you get to hear my witty repartee. The Radio Cafe is a casual, laid back, comfortable room. Doors open at 7:00 and the cover is just $5.00.

My Americana week got off to a great start. First Sue and I recorded a future Double Shot - with the incredible Mark Robinson behind the boards. Next, I headed to Dee's for Madison Guild Monday hosted by Nick Nace.  Jaimee Harris opened the night - with great songs and a great voice, Mercy Bell was next, followed by Nace, Chris Moyse, VOLK, and special surprise guest Darrin Bradbury.  It was a wonderful night of great music and hanging with great friends. Jaimee Harris and Mercy Bell were "new to me" (I am pretty sure), and a got to see a couple of out of town friends - so my plan for Americana is going peachy so far...

Today is also the 17th Anniversary of the attacks on New York and Washington. My over -riding memory of that day was the feeling of fear and uncertainty. Waiting for/dreading what was going to happen next. I'm convinced that this nation has been suffering from PTSD since 9/11/2001.

It is Tuesday - and we have a sweet shuffle from our "New Music" playlist. Let's go!

"Turns to Gold" by Tim Carroll

Yesterday, our shuffle of the Music City Monday Spotify playlist brought up an older Tim Carroll song. Today, our shuffle of the "New Music" playlist -  on my phone - brings up a song from the new Tim Carroll release Keeping Time.  Carroll's weekly rock and roll happy hour is a must see Nashville tradition. Any given Friday - you can hear great original music played by one of the best guitar players around - supported by some wonderful players. You will hear new songs and songs from Carroll's deep catalog.

"I am Open" by Bill Eberle

We managed to get a hold of Bill Eberle's Soft Light album several months ago. Well, the album will finally get it's official release later this month (September 28th). The album release show will be October 11 at The East Room. Today, we have a track from Soft Light (can't share a video of the song yet. but check out one of the already released tracks from the album in the playlist below.  This is already a favorite release of mind.

"Coal Black Water" by Nathan Bell

Nathan Bell is up next with a song about mountaintop removal - a devastating practice of harvesting coal. It destroys natural beauty for a fuel source that needs to be put into the history books. The song was originally included his Love > Fear (48 Hours in Traitorland) album. Today, I heard a live version from his recently released Er Gwaetha Pawb a Phopeth.

"Tchoupitoulas" by Benjamin Jason Douglas
Tchoupitoulas is the name of a street in New Orleans - named for an extinct Inidan tribe.  Benjamin Jason Douglas is a Nashville singer-songwriter who has become an E2TG favorite. His album First World Blues was highly anticipated ahead of it's recent release.

"Sing, Sing, Sing" by Rat Scabies

Next we have a cover of the Louis Prima penned jazz standard - performed by Rat Scabies the former drummer of the English punk band, The Damned.  (I'll take sentences I never thought I would write for $100 Alex).  A great song and a wonderful recording. The only cover song Scabies recent PHD (Prison Hospital Debt) album.

"Stars for Eyes" by Mark Huff

I swear I really do use random shuffle of existing playlists.  Yesterday, we had a song by Amelia White (the title song of the album that gave rise to her backing band), and today, we have the title track from the current album by Mark Huff.  White and Huff are hosting the show that I will be emceeing tonight. Stoked that this song came up today, and I look forward to the show tonight.

"Are Friends Electric" by rOZZ

Next, we have a track from Crunching for the C by Belgian singer-songwriter rOZZ who infuses her songs with influences from her work as an astronomer.

"The Color of Love is Blue" by The Veldt

Next up, we have another track from North Carolina based band The Veldt - This is a track from their EP Thanks to the Moth and Ariana Rose. The Veldt are a great live band, and I recommend seeing them if they come near your town.

"Moving On Over" by James House and the Blues Cowboys

And we close the shuffle our with another track from the self-titled album by Nashville-based songwriter  James House and the Blue Cowhes- who has penned hit songs by Dwight Yoakum, Diamond Rio and others.
