All of this happened a long time ago when the world was a very different place. Of course, none of us knew that at the time.

Nice chilly morning this morning, and now the sun is out, and it is still a little chilly. Fall is my favorite season of the year. I just wish it lasted longer.  Lately, we seem to go from Summer to Winter - but I'm going to enjoy Fall while I can.

Well it is Thursday, and that means, we dive back into the "New Music" playlist. We have a couple of second listens and one first listen, plus some old favorites. Let's just do it!

"Unlove Story" by Hilary Scott

Amazing vocalist and songwriter, Hilary Scott is releasing her latest album Don't Call Me Angel tomorrow. Hilary Scott is based in Puget Sound, Washington.  She is Hilary Scott with one "l" - there is another with two "l"s.  Here at E2TG, we know about others with similar names.  This album finds Scott delving more into soul and blues than her previous album. Listen for more from this album.

"Cannery" by Fred Abong

Next up, we have what I believe is our second listen to Homeless, the recent EP  from Fred Abong (Belly, Throwing Muses).  He is a veteran of the Rhode Island hardcore punk scene. In recent, years he has been pursuing a PhD in Humanities. He has been an adjunct professor in Religious Studies, English, and Philosophy.

"Mid-Life Crisis" by Mark Currey

Next up, we have another track from Mark Currey and his album Tarrant County.  This is a fantastic album, and a great song.  Currey is a singer-songwriter from Arkansas.

"Why is Everybody Rushing By" by Ten Penny Gypsy

Speaking of Arkansas, Ten Penny Gypsy are an award winning duo from "The Natural State". You may recall that their self-titled album - from which this song is taken was produced by Anthony Crawford known for his work with Neil Young and for being a member of Sugarcane Jane and Willie Sugarcapps.

"Close Up the Honky Tonks" by Buck N Stuff

A New Orleans inspired cover of the Red Simpson song - once performed by Buck Owens.  The song also gave it's name to a compilation album by The Flying Burrito Brothers.  Interesting side-note.  I first met Adam Kurtz (Buck) backing Zach Schmidt at The 5 Spot.  Tonight, Schmidt is back at The 5 Spot and while Kurtz is out of town playing with American Aquarium.  Schmidt's band will include Drummer Guy and Old What's His Name (aka Lemuel Hayes and Cameron Carrus - aka N Stuff).

"You Are Yours" by Quinn Harley

A beautiful and fitting song for National Coming Out Day. This is our last song to feature from By the Pines.  Harley was part of Circus Propaganda (a Dord Music Group band) who we first met through The Foresters.

"Totality" by Darto

We previously featured some music by Nicholas Merz (in fact, we still have a few songs to go from The Limits of Men). We mentioned that Merz was a member of the band Darto, and now, we have some music to feature from that band. This Seattle band's latest EP is called Fundamental Slime and features saxophonist Neil Welch of the Seattle jazz duo Bad Luck.  This is our first listen, and I'm digging it so far.
