Trending Tuesday Morning Shuffle - Breathless Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Okay - it's Tuesday!  I've gotten some new music added to the playlists.  We have another eclectic shuffle to this Trending Tuesday shuffle.  A selection of cool tunes covering many different genres.  Let's go!

"Some People" by Matt Ellis
First up, we have another track from Rambler Pacifico by Australian born, California based singer-songwriter Matt Ellis.  I really love this song and the whole album - actually.

"Theresa (steve whitfield remix)" by Cabinet of Millionaires

It is depressingly satisfying to be reminded that politics in the U.K. are about as f**ked as they are here.  We previous featured the original mix of this song about the current occupant of Number 10 Downing St.  This is a powerhouse remix by Steve Whitfield.  Whitfield is a guitarist of the band Klammer who we have featured here before.

"I'll Stand Strong" by Taylor Barton

Next up, we shift gears dramatically with another track from House of Light the wonderful album by New York singer-songwriter Taylor Barton.  Barton's band has/does  included a number of names that will be familiar to some of you - including her husband G.E. Smith, Andy York, Christine Olhman (the Beehive Queen) and more. Recently, she has been sharing the stage with the likes of Marshall Crenshaw and Mary Gauthier. Her album is excellent.

"Leave Me Where I Lie" by The Grave Escape

Next up, we have another great track from Tonic Noir by the dark, American band The Grave Escape who hail from Kansas.  For all my jokes about what Americana is - it is at its heart American roots music. And American roots music has a long and deep history of dark themes.  Great to hear bands like The Grave Escape exploring the darkness while also injecting some pure rock n roll into their sound.

"Take My Breath Away" by Hafdis Huld

Next up, we have our first listen to Variations by Icelandic artist Hafdis Huld (Gus Gus). As the name of the album suggests, this is an album of covers (a wildly eclectic collection), and this is a cover of the song from Top Gun - performed for the film by Berlin and written by Giorgio Morodor and Tom Whitlock.  This is a beautiful cover of the song.  Looking forward to featuring more of the great covers on this album. No video as of yet for this song, so we have another familiar cover by Hafdis Huld...

"Angelia" by Bobbo Byrnes

Next up, we have the return of Massachusetts based singer-songwriter Bobbo Byrnes (who also performs as part of the band - The Fallen Stars.  His album is called Two Sides of This Town.

"She's Like the Sun" by Holygram

Next up, we have another track from Modern Cults by German shoegaze/post punk/wave/krautrock band Holygram.  This track struck me like an excellent example of the harder-edged/darker side of 80s "new wave/techno".  Great album, great track.

"I Am/ I Am" by Auld

We close with another track from an album that I am really enjoying.  Mainstream Music by genre fluid London based indie pop band Auld. This album reminded me of the lighter, pop-oriented side of 80s "new wave" music.  This album has really worked its way into my favorite new music list (hypothetical list mind you).
