Trending Thursday Morning Shuffle - Apathy Baby Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Time is short today - so let's just jump right in!

"Waiting to Shine" by The Campfire Flies

Sparks Like Little Stars is the debut by New Jersey supergroup The Campfire Flies - the album is (as the band name suggests) like a wonderful night of music around a campfire. Check it out!

"Theresa (Zion Train Remix/Theresa Dub)" by Cabinet of Millionaires

Cabinet of Millionaires have been outspoken critics (to say the least) of Prime Minister Theresa May and her policies.  Coming on the heals of her (possible) intention to resign, they are releasing the third volume of remixes of their song "Theresa".  Volume 3 releases tomorrow. This remix is by noted dub DJ Zion Train.

"Amateur Revolution" by RJ Chesney

Next up - we have the title track from the latest album by RJ Chesney.  We actually featured this song before (it happens sometime) and to be honest, I don't mind because it is a great song. It could be that I added it as a single and then added the album. Like I said, no complaints.

"Devil White Devil" by Dead in 5

Subtlety is not in the vocabulary of Dead in 5 - who recently returned to E2TG with their new release  Automatic Death Machine. This Detroit band call themselves "outlaw rockers" - it is really great rock and roll without compromise. Great stuff.

"Endless Gaze" by Your 33 Black Angels

Next up, we have another track from Eternities I by NYC Noisepop outfit - Your 33 Black Angels (Y33BA).  A wonderfully unique addition to our shuffle.

"Tzeva Adom" by Cellista

Next up, we have a first listen to Transfigurations" - the latest album from Cellista - a California artist that builds a unique and experimental sound upon a classical foundation. Joining the growing list of Cello driven artists featured at E2TG - I am looking forward to digging more into this album.

"Late July" by The Truehearts

Next up, we have a second listen to Songs for Spike - by E2TG favorites, The Truehearts. This husband and wife duo - originally from the D.C. area - have taken Nashville by storm - and their long awaited new album was definitely worth the wait.

"Apathetic Moon" by Mark Cline Bates

Next up, we have a first listen to King of Crows by singer-songwriter Mark Cline Bates - which is due out June 28.  Bates has lived in Nashville and Los Angeles, but he recently returned to his native West Virginia - and that state permeates the album. The album was produced by Don Dixon (Dixon also plays on the album).  Dixon - if you don't know - co-produced the early R.E.M. album (among many others) and has made some wonderful music of his own and with his wife Marti Jones. This was a great first listen, and I look forward to bringing you more.

"Coffee in the Morning" by Rich Mahan

We have yet another first listen - to the forthcoming (and long awaited) new album from Rich Mahan - called Hot Chicken Wisdom.  We recently saw Mahan as part of the Magnolia Roads American Roots Hoedown IV.  He is a well-known and highly respected figure on the Nashville music scene. This is his first album in almost 8 years (for reasons we will get into as we move forward talking about this album).  For now, just know - this is a great album that you need to check out as soon as you are able.

"Make a Baby" by Big Tide

We close things out - with another first listen. This is the new album from Sync or Swim by Big Tide. Big Tide are from the UK (which does not include Ireland by the way) but their music reminds me of some of the great power pop bands that I grew up listening to in the late 80s.  One of the quotes in the submission e-mail makes a comparison to Guadalcanal Diary - which is sadly timely due to the passing of Jeff Walls last week.  I really loved this song and I look forward to hearing and writing more about this band.
