Trending Tuesday Morning Shuffle - Sweet and Fizz Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

*Note: The video playlist at the bottom of the post attempts to closely approximate the shuffle I listened to on my way to work this morning. When a video for a song was not available, I substituted another song by the same artist. When I could not find any videos by an artist, I included a related video or did not include a video for that track. This blog may reference unreleased tracks, however, no unreleased music is ever included.

I am back!   I had a great time at Muddy Roots.  I will have a lengthy recap/overall observation about this weird, wild, and wonderful festival that is not 10 years old!

For now, I will just leave it at - it is a great music festival, it is a wonderful social event, and it is a hell of a lot of fun.

Onward,

We are finally ready to announce our second act for Week 5 of the E2TG 8th Anniversary Residency.  It is... MICROWAVE MOUNTAIN!!!!!  You may recall that MM was set to play last year, but unfortunately had to drop out due to some scheduling conflicts.  I am so thrilled to have on-board. Week 5 with The Big Dumb and Microwave Mountain is gong to be a trip!  Don't miss it (or any of our four other weeks).

We also have had some artist shifts to the previously announced schedule - so here is the FINAL LINEUP!

Now, we need to jump back into our first shuffle in over a week! Let's go!

"Baby Let Me Follow You Down" by Mrs. Henry

We start things off with another track from that Mrs. Henry The Last Waltz album.  In case you've missed my previous posts, Mrs. Henry is an L.A. based band, they put together a recreation of the now legendary concert/film The Last Waltz - documenting the "final concert" by The Band. This is a traditional song that was popularized by folk singer Eric Von Schmidt and later recorded by Bob Dylan for his debut album.  Dylan joined The Band to perform this at original event. This is a great version of the song.

"Ginger Ale and Lorna Doones" by Amy Speace

Next up, we have a wonderful song from the forthcoming Me and The Ghost of Charlemagne by Amy Speace.  The song is a sensitive portrayal of abortion from the point of view of a young woman in a waiting room and the small kindness of cookies and a fizzy drink.  It is a reminder of the human element of an often incendiary topic and of the value of small acts of kindness in general.

"Things We Would Rather Lose" by Joe Goodkin

E2TG favorite Joe Goodkin is back with a brand new album. The album will not be out until October 11, but we have a preview. Paper Arrows is the name of the album. The album title refers back to Goodkin's old band, Paper Arrows. The sixteen songs of the album include 10 new recordings of songs originally recorded and released by his old band - alongside 6 songs that have never been recorded or released.  The album follows his recently trilogy of albums: Record of Life/Record of Loss/Record of Love. - We covered the most recent of those album.  So excited to hear this new music and expect more to come!

"Living and Learning" by Wedding Present
We have another upcoming release!  Tommy 30 will be released on October 25th in North America.  It is a re-recording of a 1988 compilation of early tracks by the UK band The Wedding Present.  The band formed in 1985 and operated until 1997. They reformed in 2004 and have been releasing music and touring ever since. This new recording is being released by Happy Happy Birthday To Me records in North America.
"Slow Goodbye" by Shane Alexander

We only have to wait a couple more weeks for the release of A Life Like Ours by California singer-songwriter Shane Alexander.  I enjoyed this song quite a bit.

"Taking You Home" by Flying Buffaloes

Next up, we have another track from Loaded and Rollin' by Flying Buffaloes.  I love this band, and I love this album.

"Rhythm of the Rain" by Amelia White

Next, we have the title track to the latest album by East Nashville and E2TG favorite Amelia White.  White is hard at work on her follow-up album, and I am hearing great things about the new album. Meanwhile, Rhythm of the Rain (the song and the album) find Amelia White - on top of her game.

"Capitalism" by Ernest Moon

Liverpool based band Ernest Moon is up next with the final song on their EP Ba-Jesus which was released back in April.

"Kickin' the Can" by Peter Rogan

Singer-Songwriter Peter Rogan is up next with a track from his album Still Tryin' to Believe. The album features Phil Madeira  and Will Kimbrough who trades guitar soloes with Rogan on this track.

"Wannado" by WesdaRuler

September 11 is the release date for Ocean Drive by Athens, Georgia based hip-hop artist WesdaRuler. A great way to close out today's shuffle.
