Trending Tuesday Morning Shuffle - Copycat Mix (Hey America! Remix)

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

*Note: The video playlist at the bottom of the post attempts to closely approximate the shuffle I listened to on my way to work this morning. When a video for a song was not available, I substituted another song by the same artist. When I could not find any videos by an artist, I included a related video or did not include a video for that track. This blog may reference unreleased tracks, however, no unreleased music is ever included.

Stepping further into the week, we have another Trending Tuesday Shuffle for you... hope you enjoy!

"You To Me Are Everything" by Hafdis Huld

First up, we have another track from Variations - the covers album by Icelandic artist Hafdis Huld. This is a cover of a 1976 song by The Real Thing that went to number one on the UK Charts.

"Boats" by David J

On the heels of news of the recent Bauhaus reunion show in L.A., we have another track from Bauhaus co-founder David J from his reissued 1985 solo album Crocodile Tears and the Velvet Kosh.

"Mark" by Rod Picott

Next, we have the penultimate track to feature from Tell the Truth and Shame the Devil by Rod Picott. This is a powerful song about suicide of a young person.

"Too Many Ghosts" by Bonsai Universe

Next up, we have the title track from that outstanding new album by Bonsai Universe. This album has really grown on my well. It is very hard to pin down - which I love, but this is just a flat out great song.

"Fools Golden Boy" by John Dennis

It will be a little while before Mortal Flames is officially released, but I've gotten a sneak peak, and it is going to be good. John Dennis is a singer-songwriter based in Nashville.  We most recently saw him playing guitar with Jason Erie at the E2TG Residency last month. We previously featured songs from his album Second Wind. We will have more details about the release of Mortal Flame - when they become available.
"When I Look Into Her Eyes" by Flying Buffaloes
"Easy Love" by Flying Buffaloes

Why not a Tuesday twofer from Loaded and Rollin' by Flying Buffaloes. Their album is fantastic and definitely worth a listen, but for me the real strength of this band are their dynamic live performances. Their CD release show a couple of months back was one of my favorite nights of music of the year.

"Copycat" by Tarah Who?

Next up, we have a first listen to 64 Women - the new EP from L.A. based, female powered rock duo, Tarah Who?  Tarah Who? is led by Tarah Carpenter.  I just noticed that they played here in Nashville last week... ugh!  I am really digging the hard rock garage sound of this album.  More to come.

"Hey America!" by The Pull of Autumn

I love the diversity of the music on Afterglow by The Pull of Autumn.  This track - to me - doesn't sound like anything else on their album, but(and) it is fantastic. The Pull of Autumn is currently mostly based in Boston but traces its roots to Rhode Island. The members of the band are veterans on many different bands including Johanna's House of Glamour, Fashion, Belly, and Throwing Muses.
