Wild Wednesday Morning Shuffle - Went Away for the Holiday Mix (Harmando Remix)

*Note: The video playlist at the bottom of the post attempts to closely approximate the shuffle I listened to on my way to work this morning. When a video for a song was not available, I substituted another song by the same artist. When I could not find any videos by an artist, I included a related video or did not include a video for that track. This blog may reference unreleased tracks, however, no unreleased music is ever included.

Moving on.  We've reached the mid-point of the week.  On Wednesday, we get wild at #E2TG - meaning we shuffle up all the songs I have collected over the years. It can be new songs and older songs, songs from albums we are now or have previously featured on E2TG, songs from my personal collection and odds and ends downloaded and saved over the years. Sometimes, songs come up and I have no idea when or how I added them.  It makes for a fun - wild mix of music - so sit back and enjoy.  (Note: a few songs were not available for the video playlist - so substitute songs by the same artists were added).

"Warning Signs" by Jackie Bristow
"Broken Girl"by Jackie Bristow

Right off the bat, we have two songs in a row from singer-songwriter Jackie Bristow's 2011 album Freedom.  This one came into my possession within the last year or so, and I dig it. A cool start to a wild shuffle.

"Ain't Gonna Worry My Life No More" by Mississippi Fred McDowell

Next up, we have a track from that compilation of remastered Mississippi Fred McDowell tracks that we featured last year.

"13 Nights" by Paul Burch and The WPA Ballclub

Next up, we have a track from Pan-American Flash by Paul Burch and WPA Ballclub.  Burch is a musician and songwriter and also a fellow WXNA DJ.  This album was released in 1998.  Paul Burch played an important role in the revitalization of Lower Broadway in Nashville.

"Settle" by Asher Parkes (Feat. Daniella Hendler)

Next up, we have a track that has lingered around in my phone memory since 2017 - it is from an EP called Don't Stay by Australian indie-pop singer-songwriter Asher Parkes.  Cool sounding song.

"Somnium Ex Machina" by Tomorrow's Eve

We featured Mirror of Creation III - Project Ikaros back in 2018 on E2TG. This is a track from that album.  Tomorrow's Eve are a progressive metal band from Germany.

"Harmondo Story" by Leland Sundries

Not a song, but a story that introduces "Airstream Tranmsission" on the Live at the Creamery album.  The story involves a college radio station DJ named Harmondo (Hair-Man-Doo).

"Time Machine" by The Room in the Wood

Next up, we have a track from The Mars EP that was also included on the self-titled album by this band from Liverpool.  We covered them last year.

"Wrong Turn" by Homesick Astronauts

Next up, one of those - "don't know when or how I added this but cool song" picks.  We have this track which was released in 2011 on the Rocket Science EP. Homesick Astronaunts were a German band - it looks like they broke up in 2015.  Cool song.

"There is No Love" by Helen America

Next up, the most current song in this shuffle - in fact - so current that Helen America's album Red Sun will be out on Friday.  Helen America is a singer-songwriter, multi-media artist, cartoonist, and zine maker. Check out Red Sun on Friday - wherever you get music.

"Elevate Your Mind" by Calicocat

From the E2TG Archives. In the early, early days of E2TG, I went out and found music to write about - no one was sending me any. Mostly, it was band's from anywhere but Nashville, but there were exceptions.  Calicocat was a favorite of ours back in those heady days of the early 2010s.  This goes back to their 2011 album This is Heavy.  The band featured Coley Hinson, Matt Robinson, and Nelson Christopher.  Through my quick search, I found Hinson and Robinson still making music around town. In fact, if I am not mistaken, Coley Hinson most recently has been playing with Jeremy Ivey.

"The KKK Took My Baby Away" by Government Cheese

And why not close with a live cover of the Ramones song by Bowling Green legends Government Cheese. Wild enough for you?
