E2TG 5/10/2020 - Music City Monday - A Comeback of Sorts - Songbird Mix (Genius Remix)

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

And I am back!  Sorry for the extended and unexpected hiatus - it could not be helped, but I am happy to be back.

Last Wednesday, just before everything went down, I started a blog post - including a shuffle.  I didn't get to finish it, but here it is in all of its unfinished glory! Lost Shuffle!

Moving on.  Even though I was out of blogging commission, I have managed to keep up with the Featured Friday Playlist.  All the more reason to "Follow" the Playlist on Spotify and check back every Friday (usually updated sometime after midnight).

This week's list included some favorites and at least one new name to us.

New and recent music from Adrian + Meredith (from their Live at The 5 Spot Release), Tom Schreck - from his recent album Schrexit, Brian Wright & the SneakUps (from Lapse of Luxury), Marchelle Bradanini (aka Ponyboy - but releasing her first music under her own name), our old friends Sci-Fi Romance, Nashville singer-songwriter Paul Nelson, Cup, Eli Cook (who played our Residency in 2018), and Watch Clark.

By the way, apologies to everyone who has sent me music in the last couple of weeks. In some cases, I responded, but I didn't know I would be out as long as I was.  Be patient, and for those who had time sensitive submissions - I am truly sorry.

Let's get right to today's shuffle - after the jump!

E2TG 4/06/2020 - Music City Monday - Stutter Mix (Perfect World Remix)

I just want to say that I hope you are all doing as well as you can be. I know many of us are far from okay. Some of us are struggling while simultaneously feeling guilty for struggling as we recognize that there are many who have it far worse than we do.  I just want to say all of that okay.

If you missed it Friday, below you can check out the current Featured Friday Playlist and below you can check out today's Music City Monday Shuffle...

Music City Monday Morning Shuffle - Dyin' of Thirst Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

All of this happened a long time ago when the world was a very different place. Of course, none of us knew that at the time.
(From The Drift - A Novel by Joe Wolfe-Mazeres) Available at Amazon.com (Kindle edition also available)

I am continuing to work on my Spotify playlists for E2TG.  So far, I have completed three - January - March 2018.  These are meant to be a cross-section of music I featured during those months - not necessarily music released in those months.   If you are interested, you can check out the playlists (links below)  and follow my personal profile to find out when new playlists are created.

E2TG January 2018
E2TG February 2018
E2TG March 2018
E2TG April 2018 (NEW!)

Running late, but I love Music City Monday - so I didn't want to miss.  It's funny how a random shuffle of the same mix of songs can yield a different mix of results. Today's shuffle is heavily weighted toward recent and fairly recent music.   But, you can see for yourself...

We are back after the weekend.  Busy week ahead.

Let's just right into this Music City Monday shuffle. This shuffle comes from a constantly changes and growing Spotify playlist which features a broad cross-section of Nashville-related artists/bands from the past and present. Well-known and should-be well-known.

Let's go!

Music City Monday Morning Shuffle - Red All Over Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Week 3 of the E2TG 7th Anniversary Residency is this coming Thursday. Look for an eclectic mix of of some of my favorite artists/bands in Nashville.  Things are going to kick off just after 6:00pm with Brian Milligram, The Coal Men are up next, and Microwave Mountain close out the night.  These are some of the best that Nashville has to offer. Admission is just $5.00, Must be 21+ (with valid ID) to get into The 5 Spot. I hope you will join us.

I will be reading another short section of The Drift, and I will have a (very) few copies of my novel for sale. (I had a great sales day last Thursday, and my next order likely will not be here by this Thursday,  I hope to have them in time for the residency finale on June 28.

THE DRIFT is still for sale at Amazon.com.

Well, it is Monday, and time for another edition of Music City Monday - where we shuffle up a ginormous playlist of locally sourced music from past and present. Let's jump right into the shuffle:

Music City Monday Morning Shuffle - Just a Baby Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Thanks to everyone who donated to the Spring Pledge Drive at WXNA! We reached our goal!  Also Happy Birthday to WXNA which is now two years old!

We are now just a few days away from the E2TG 7th Anniversary Residency at The 5 Spot. It all begins THIS Thursday June 7 at 6:00pm.   Clark Paterson will play a full-band set, followed by Rayvon Pettis and The Big Dumb.  The Big Dumb are Pettis' amazing backing band, but they are also one of my favorite bands - featuring quality players and boasting four amazing songwriters among their members.  I have compiled a woefully incomplete video playlist featuring some of the folks playing on Thursday.

Also, I will reading a short excerpt from my novel The Drift  and I will have copies for sale $10.  I hope you will come out if you are in Nashville - it promises to be a fun night of great music.

Music City Monday has proven to be one of my favorite days here on E2TG. It's a great opportunity to highlight some of the incredible artists who make or have made Nashville home. It's a lively cross-section of songs from different decades and different genres.  It is also an opportunity to showcase musical heroes and musically talented friends - and heroes who have become friends and vice-versa.

Let's shuffle!

Music City Monday Morning Shuffle - Love Comes, Love Goes Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Week 1:  Clark Paterson, The Big Dumb, Rayvon Pettis
Week 2: The End Men, Ted Drozdowski's Psychedelic Circus, Ben de la Cour
Week 3:  Brian Milligram, Microwave Mountain, The Coal Men
Week 4: Joanna Barbera, Bee Taylor, Eli Cook

We are just over two weeks away from the E2TG 7th Anniversary Residency at The 5 Spot.  Rayvon Pettis, The Big Dumb, and Clark Paterson will be lighting up the stage.

Consider this a soft release announcement, but my debut novel The Drift is now available from Amazon.  If you are in Nashville and would like a copy, let me know, and we can make some arrangements. Full announcement coming soon.  (They said 3-5 days until it was available, so I wasn't expecting it today!)

Needless to say, I have a lot going on right now, and as is my nature, I'm feeling wholly out of sorts about everything.

Nothing like music to calm my savage beast of a monkey mind - and it is Monday - so we have another fabulous Music City Monday for your enjoyment.

Friday Morning Music Shuffle - Best Ever Mix

(Throw back Friday Pic)

For me, every mix is unique and has value.  Is this the best ever mix? Probably not, that will be Monday or some other time (or many other times in the future).  This is a good mix - a damn good mix.  Why?  'Cause it has some of my all time favorites, a couple of brand new (to me) songs that I really dig, a nifty cover, a diverse but not crazily diverse mixture of songs (although I love me some crazily diverse mixtures), and it forces me to break a long-standing officially unofficial blog policy.... but we'll get to all that.

Meanwhile - let's just dive right into the mix
