Well, we sure do live in interesting times. Interesting is an interesting word. It can be positive, negative, or neutral... or even ironically. Time will tell, how "interesting" these times are, but from this up-close perspective, it sure is interesting. #Comey #DumpTrump #Resist #Persist

So, last month, as you may know, E2TG turned six years old. It has been quite a ride to be sure. To celebrate, I created a 450 song "retrospective" playlist of music that have been featured in some way on this blog. That is basically 450 different artist - with allowances that some may be crossovers (solo acts vs. bands they were in/ people in two or more bands etc.) It has been fun revisiting all of the great music. I have lost touch with some of these fine folks and in some cases, I cannot find updated information, but they were all a part of getting me to this point, and while I am not entirely sure that I know where "this point" is, I do know that a whole bunch of good stuff is happening and has happened because I started writing this blog. My point being that every step along the way was important, and I am grateful of ALL of the awesome music I have encountered. Today's shuffle spans the six years pretty effectively - picks up on some rare cuts from the past, and well - rocks. In many cases, I could not find a video of the particular song today, but I think I got at least something to represent each artist.
Let's shuffle!

Mark your calendars for MAY 18, 2016 - The Ear to the Ground 5th Anniversary Extravaganza 5 Acts, 5 Spot, 5 $.
Greetings from Nashville! As I reported yesterday, I was out of the city at work conference all day, but I did shuffle and listen to the Wild Wednesday Playlist on the way there and back - actually 32 songs total. No way did I have time for a 32 song post, so I am posting the first 10 songs of the shuffle (about the length of a normal shuffle).
I had a blast hanging out for a little while at The 5 Spot for $2 Tuesday with Patrick Kinsley filling in for Derek Hoke. And I got to see Patrick and his band a Fistful of Dollars perform. It was great to have my decision to invite them to play the 5th Anniversary show confirmed. You do not want to miss them!

Happy Friday! Sue and I had our first Radio DJ training at WXNA, and I got to see the studio of the first time. When I know more about an on-air date, I will definitely be posting about that here.
I am excited to announce that the line-up for the E2TG Anniversary Extravaganza has been set. Look for the big reveal Monday morning (it may leaked sooner - so now would be a good time to double-check that you have "Liked" the Facebook Page. It is going to be a good one, so go ahead and mark May 18 as "busy" on your calendar.
Tonight my plans include hanging out at The 5 Spot for the Tim Carroll Rock and Roll Happy Hour and then making my way to The Family Wash for the Mark Huff CD Release show with Jon Byrd opening up. Good times...
Tomorrow is Record Store Day. Make your plans accordingly....
Here are some of the songs we are featuring on E2TG....

Thursday Morning Music Shuffle - Kingston Springs Mix

Sorry for the inconsistency of posts the last couple of weeks... things will smooth out, but life sometimes gets all lifey...
I have been fighting with a cold all week (constantly changing weather -winter to spring and back - doesn't help), and as a result, I have been mostly laying low this week, but I did manage to venture out (in a cold dreary rain) to The Basement (the original one) for some music. As if the case most nights in Nashville there was awesome music going on all over town, but I just didn't feel up to venue hopping. In fact, the Basement hosted an early show with Erin Rae and Kelsey Waldron that I totally missed, but I did get to see three awesome sets of music from three of Nashville's best "on-the-cusp" artists.
Andrew Leahey and the Homestead played their last local show for a bit as they gear up for the release of their new album (on Thirty Tigers) in May. As they have every time I have seen them, they played earnest heartland rock and roll and did not hold back.
Michaela Anne also has an album due out in May. Backed by her awesome band, she played her solid and gorgeous country songs. A highlight was her performance of "Me and Willie" (a CD bonus track from Emmylou Harris' 1976 album Luxury Liner) which Michaela Anne introduced by recognizing the song's writer, Laurie Hyde-Smith, who had come to Nashville from North Carolina for the show.
Darrin Bradbury closed the night with his first? full band show since his January Basement East residency (with the band that played with him for those shows). This was an extremely fun set which included an impromptu vocal assist (from the crowd) by Jon Latham. (Do I need to mention that Darrin and Jon are the current and most recently past E2TG Artists of the Year? No? Okay, I won't then). It was fun seeing so many familiar faces (and awesome musicians/songwriters) in the crowd.
