Music City Monday Morning Shuffle - Old Friends Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

It seems like a good time to check-in... yep, it is June 5, 2017, and there are still white supremacists in positions of power in the White House.
******************************************************************************

Had a good time celebrating the 1st Anniversary of WXNA yesterday.  As someone who come of age musically speaking with college radio (WRVU in particular), I have to say, WXNA has filled huge gap in the Nashville radio landscape. There is great original programming every single day, all day long, and I am so happy to be a part of it.

TONIGHT!  Yes, the Predator's are in the Stanley Cup Finals, and Nashville is abuzz.  Game 4 is tonight, but I am going to recommend you get yourself to The Basement East for the Jon Latham Benefit tonight.  Not only is it a great cause for a great guy, the music is going to be incredible. Jon's ace band will be the house band with an incredible lineup of guest singers.  You can check in on the game on your phone as you need to...

Okay, I was off last Monday, so this is our first Music City Monday in a couple of weeks... so let's do this thing!

"Beautiful Dream" by Suzette Lawrence and the Neon Angels

Nashville's favorite Honky Tonk Angel gets us started with a track off Tear Up the Honky Tonk.  I could not find this song, but I did find a 2009 performance featuring special guest Rosie Flores!
"You Can't Make Old Friends" by The Western Shore

We keep going with our old friends, The Western Shore with a track from their album Thunderstorm.  This is a cover of a Kenny and Dolly duet that was co-written by Don Schlitz.  My memory here is when Don Schlitz (who also wrote The Gambler among many, many more hits) did a residency at The 5 Spot, and when he did this song, Kaylee from The Western Shore sang along beautifully form the audience.
"Tears on my Pillow" by Clem Snide

Another cover... this one is a cover of a Little Anthony and The Imperials hit by Clem Snide. Clem Snide formed in Boston in 1991, but they are currently based in Nashville.
"Worse Than You" by Tim Carroll

A E2TG favorite, Tim Carroll with a track from his latest release, It's All Politics.

"Catching Bones on a Saturday Night" by The Buddies

The Buddies are up next with a track from their self-titled album.  Always great to have a The Buddies song in the shuffle.
"Charles William" by All Them Witches

Nashville's own All Them Witches are up next. Their latest album is called Sleeping Through the War.  This is a track from their earlier album Lightning At the Door.

"Dead Ends" by Nick Nace

Nashville by way of Canada singer-songwriter Nick Nace is up with a track from him recently release Canadiana Americana album.  In the video playlist, we have a performance of this song from the recent E2TG Residency Show - captured by Crystal!

"Can't Forget" by Shadow 15

And, we close things out with another one of Far Away by Nashville legends Shadow 15.
