E2TG 2/5/2021 - Featured Friday - Favorite Goodbye Mix (Dada Bois Remix)

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

The Featured Friday Playlist is back!   I am mostly likely going to change up how I present the music on the playlist, but the most important thing is give it a listen.  I always try to pick a diverse collection of new and recent music.  I am sure there will be things you will like, and some that won't be your cup of tea. It's all okay.  If you feel inclined - please follow the playlist.

By the way, I sort of (but just sort of) lied earlier this week. I said I was just going to move forward and not worry about "catching up" on what I missed while I was out. That is basically true, but this week's playlist does include a few choice tracks that came out during my January time away.  I am also not going to worry about explaining what is brand new and what has been out a couple of weeks.  If it comes to me, I will say something.

And I am overexplaining again. 😀

As usual it is a collection of old friends and old favorites plus some new (to me) music.

Enjoy!

E2TG 12/4/2020 - Featured Friday - Dumb it Down Mix (Delightfully Devilish Remix)

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Well, well, well - a combination of a several post-Thanksgiving releases and my catching up on my inbox means we have our biggest Featured Friday Playlist ever: 55 songs and nearly 3 1/2 hours of music.  That means I have my work cut out for me recapping, but I will do it. Maybe expect fewer words per song... maybe... I am typically not good at fewer words...

The recap begins below the jump with the first 15 songs!

E2TG 10/09/2020 - Featured Friday - No Sound Mix (Save the Day Remix)

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Well, we have reached the end of a another week.  I am so ready for the weekend.  I am going to start a few hours early....

I will say before we dig into the brand new E2TG Featured Friday Playlist - VOTE! Make a plan.  Check with your State and local election officials. There is a definite and concerted effort in some locations to suppress voting.  Don't let them win.  Know your rights and exercise your rights.

One more thing, before I just jump into the music - at this point, the people I truly don't understand are the undecided voters - I understand them less than Trump voters. Trump voters are part of a cult, so their behavior is predictable and easily understandable if you understand how cults work.  But, the people who are on the fence - that I have a hard time understanding. To me the choice is stark and obvious.

E2TG Video Premiere - Anana Kaye - Anana Kaye - Señor (Tales of Yankee Power) {Bob Dylan Cover}

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Last week, Anana Kaye and her musical and life partner Irakli Gabriel released a cover of Bob Dylan's "Señor (Tales of Yankee Power)" - we included that song as part of last week's Featured Friday Playlist. Now, a week later, they are releasing the accompanying music video, and E2TG is thrilled to be premiering it here this morning.

Natives of Georgia (not the U.S. State, but the former Soviet republic), Anana and Irakli moved to Nashville a couple of years ago and have really taken this town by storm. They have captured the attention and collaborated with some of the most talented folks in town (and this is a town rich with talented folks).

Both musically and visually, they have hit upon something special.  One thing I have observed about Nashville is that it is not just the abundance of talent and the accumulation of that talent, it is a near magical way talented people in this town seem to feed off each other to become better versions of themselves.

To be fair, not everyone who comes to Nashville has that experience, and I cannot say for sure why that is, but in the case of Anana Kaye and Irakli Gabriel and everyone with whom they have worked, it definitely has worked.

Speaking of this spirit of collaboration, the song features Chris Benelli on drums, Chris Donohue on bass and Fawn Larson on harmonies (all supremely talented musicians).  Anana and Irakli produced the song with Stephen Leiweke doing the mixing.  As for the song, it was the second song on the second side of Dylan's 18th studio album - the somewhat underrated 1978 release Street Legal.  Anana Kaye has stated that she has wanted to cover the song for some time.

Covers in general and Dylan covers in particular can be tricky business. Here, without straying too far from the source material, Anana Kaye manages to make the song her own. But, I will let you judge for yourself.  The video premieres after the jump.

E2TG 2019 Recap - Part 8 - Butterfly Mix (Moonlighting Remix)

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Took on the last $2 Tuesday last night with E2TG fave Jason Erie, Rhyan Sinclair, host Derek Hoke, and Ward Hayden and the Outliers (whose Don't Judge a Book album we covered here this year).  In the late night hour, an uplifting full-band set from Jon Latham - featuring some Christmas tunes and special guests.  It was exactly the sort of night I needed.

Let us jump back into our recap of 2019.  Some cool music today.  Dig it!

E2TG Video Premiere: Anana Kaye - "Blueberry Fireworks"

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Today, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to premiere the brand new video from one of the hottest duos in Nashville right now. Anana Kaye and Irakli Gabriel are Anana Kaye (the band). The pair are originally from Georgia (the country not the state just to the south of Tennessee).

Over the last several months, the two have taken Nashville's music community by storm. They have that  rare combination of talent and personality.

The video is a work of art and it stars the amazingly talented Rosemary Fossee.  Now, you can check it out here and only here at E2TG!
