All of this happened a long time ago when the world was a very different place. Of course, none of us knew that at the time.

I am continuing to work on my Spotify playlists for E2TG.  So far, I have completed three - January - May 2018.  These are meant to be a cross-section of music I featured during those months - not necessarily music released in those months.   If you are interested, you can check out the playlists (links below)  and follow my personal profile to find out when new playlists are created.

E2TG January 2018
E2TG February 2018
E2TG March 2018
E2TG April 2018

E2TG May 2018 NEW

First of all, sending all love and light to the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin and all who loved her. Her legacy and her music will live on forever.

It's funny, I call Wednesday's "Wild" here at E2TG, but to be honest - many of our shuffles can get pretty wild - with gears shifting so fast as to cause whiplash. It's part of my concerted effort to keep E2TG from being just one thing. I love music, and I have very diverse tastes and ever more diverse curiosity. So, I am constantly seeking out all kinds of music, and I tend to judge how well I am doing by the variety of submissions I receive.

Society tends to like to put people and music and whatever into rigid boxes - I respect people, artists, bands, whatever that constantly defy expectations.

Anyway, judge for yourself, how well I am doing... here's today's Trending Thursday Shuffle!

E2TG April 2018 (NEW!)

In case you missed it, last Friday, we premiered a new song, "Gloria" by Nashville singer-songwriter Benjamin Jason Douglas from his album First World Blues which is being released this coming Friday.  Check it out HERE !

Back out to The 5 Spot last night to see three of Nashville's finest:  Erica Blinn and her killer band, Patrick Kinsley and a Fistful of Dollars, and Adrian + Meredith.  A solid night of music with some good hangs.

Well - for me at least - this week has flown by, and here it is Friday.  I'm just going to jump right into our final shuffle of the week - it is Featured Friday - where will shuffle up the "New Music" playlist to see what comes up.  Some of the songs today have been in the "New Music" list for some time, and MAYBE it is time for a refresh of that list, BUT these are all great songs - so who am I to complain?

Let's shuffle!

Featured Friday Morning Shuffle - Are You Having Fun Boys and Girls? Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Reminder the Magnolia Roads American Roots Hoedown III kicks off tonight with a pre-party at Dee's.  Details and feature on Taylor Kropp (plus links to the first four parts of my preview and features on other artists can be found HERE.

Among the artists performing tonight at Dee's is Allen Thompson.  I went out (for the first time in over a week) last night for the last night of Allen's residency at The 5 Spot.  Maxwell Putnam opened -and as usual he was awesome.  Allen played with a ten piece band that he dubbed Lady Couch.  The band included Jack Silverman, Clint Maine, and Lilly Winwood, and the Nashville Horns. They played a loose, fun set of originals and choice covers. Pretty awesome for an early show (it would have been awesome regardless of the time).

Now, it is FRIDAY!  We have a very mixed bag of music to "Feature".  So sit back, as we take the week out in style.

Wild Wednesday Morning Shuffle - Gojira Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

I feel like I'm limping into the long weekend... and today's dreary weather in Nashville is not helping, but nevertheless I persist... persist in bringing you music of all shapes and sizes.

It's Wednesday!  That is the day, traditionally set aside to get wild. Okay, it's a recent tradition I guess... but...

Most days, our shuffle comes from a specific playlist (3 days a week it is our "New Music" playlist). On Wednesday, though, we shuffle up all the songs which are located on my phone's memory card. New songs, songs from albums we featured in the past, songs from the E2TG archives, random songs which came to me from a variety of sources - including my personal collection of CDs, and stray tracks lacking complete metadata which came from unknown moments in time.

We call it "Wild Wednesday" not because the songs are necessarily "wild" (just sometimes) but because it is a wildcard... you never know what the next song will be...

Anyway, it's Tuesday and time to shuffle up the "New Music" playlist. I have a ton of new music I still need to add to my phone memory, but I also have a ton of music already in the "New Music" playlist.

Let's shuffle:

Another week bites the dust... it's been a challenging one, to be sure.

I'm very excited about all of the awesome new music that has come my way, and I am cooking up some exciting things. Keep coming back!

I do need to let you know that posting will be sporadic at best over the next two weeks.  I will try to dart on with some updates just to keep things interesting. In the meantime, I hope you will check out my past posts for any you may have missed.  Thanks in advance for your patience.

Now, let's get to today's "Featured Friday" shuffle of songs from the "New Music" playlist.

Wild Thursday Morning Shuffle - Going Nowhere Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook

As we continue to ease into 2018 with a few days of "Wildcard" shuffles, I am excited about some of the new (and new to me) music that I will be bringing you all in this new year. Some of that new music may be leaking out in the next couple of shuffles. Stay tuned.

I was thinking this morning how our perception of temperature is kind of relative. I mean, at the beginning of fall/end of summer, the first time temperatures fall into the 50s, many of us reach for jackets. Meanwhile, at the end of winter/start of spring, when it gets up to the 50s, people can usually be seen in short sleeves and even shorts.  Anyway, right now, I would love to be putting on short sleeves or even shorts, but it is pretty darn cold.

Sending warm thoughts to everyone dealing with the snow storms. No snow in Nashville to speak of. Windchill was  below zero on my walk in though, and these are the tunes that kept me warm....
