E2TG 5/24/2021 - Music City Monday Maybe - Marisol Mix (Continuum Remix)

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

I had a dental procedure this morning and have been recovering so forgive the late post...

Part 2 of our Featured Friday Recap (songs 11-16):

11. "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" by Molly Tuttle & Nathaniel Rateliff
A great cover from Molly Tuttle's surprise new collaborative covers EP.
12. "Hungover" by Goldwoman
Next up, a great song from this Brooklyn based singer-songwriter from a forthcoming album. The song is a true story of the morning after seeing an ex at a gig.
13. "Ain't It a Shame (When Your Horse Goes Lame)" by Wild Earp &  The Free for Alls
The next album from Chicago based Wild Earp & The Free for Alls is due out in July.  This is the first single. A fun song.
14. "Train Don't Stop" by Magnolia Bayou
We previously featured this band from southern Mississippi last year with the release of their album Strange Place.  Swampy hard rock - great stuff.
15. "Wine" by Simone
Next up, we have the new single from this 16 year old singer-songwriter from New York.
16. "Your Shit" by Tesla Shamans

Electric Storm  - the debut album from this hard rocking Italian band is out now. We previously featured their single "Shamans."  In case you are wondering, I will not be playing this track on the radio. :-)

E2TG 5/7/2021 - Featured Friday - Pizza & Drugs Mix (Take Good Care Remix)

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

A busy week for new music, and that means a jam packed Featured Friday Playlist.  If you want, you can check out the whole list which is embedded just below or you can follow along all week as I recap the list in five segments.  Part 1 is down below the jump covering the first 15 songs.

It is also a good time to tell you that much of the music featured here is available on Bandcamp and that today Bandcamp is waiving revenue sharing to put more of the proceeds of purchases directly in the hands of the artists you and I love.  If you love independent music like I do, support the artists in the most direct way you are able. Bandcamp is one of the better avenues.

E2TG 2/5/2021 - Featured Friday - Favorite Goodbye Mix (Dada Bois Remix)

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

The Featured Friday Playlist is back!   I am mostly likely going to change up how I present the music on the playlist, but the most important thing is give it a listen.  I always try to pick a diverse collection of new and recent music.  I am sure there will be things you will like, and some that won't be your cup of tea. It's all okay.  If you feel inclined - please follow the playlist.

By the way, I sort of (but just sort of) lied earlier this week. I said I was just going to move forward and not worry about "catching up" on what I missed while I was out. That is basically true, but this week's playlist does include a few choice tracks that came out during my January time away.  I am also not going to worry about explaining what is brand new and what has been out a couple of weeks.  If it comes to me, I will say something.

And I am overexplaining again. 😀

As usual it is a collection of old friends and old favorites plus some new (to me) music.

Enjoy!

Wild Wednesday Morning Shuffle - 50,000 Watts Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

All of this happened a long time ago when the world was a very different place. Of course, none of us knew that at the time.
(From The Drift - A Novel by Joe Wolfe-Mazeres) Available at Amazon.com (Kindle edition also available)

If you have read The Drift, please consider writing a review on Amazon. If you haven't read it, you can get your own copy through Amazon or if you are in Nashville, you can get them from me.

I am continuing to work on my Spotify playlists for E2TG.  So far, I have completed seven - January - July2018.  These are meant to be a cross-section of music I featured during those months - not necessarily music released in those months.   If you are interested, you can check out the playlists (links below)  and follow my personal profile to find out when new playlists are created.

Busy day, and I am a little short on time, so I won't blather on - we'll just jump straight into the Wild Wednesday Shuffle. New songs, old songs, red songs, blue songs, on a train, in the rain....

Featured Friday Morning Shuffle - Jump Back Down Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Well, yesterday I wrote about the finale of Mark Robinson's Showband and Rhythm Revue Residency at The 5 Spot.  Well, the show certainly lived up to my expectations (and then some!).  Master levels musicianship, world-class vocalists, and Mark Robinson - who is a consummate bandleader.  Such a fun night.

Well, this week has kind of flown by in a hurry... it is Friday and time for Featured Friday on E2TG.

Trending Tuesday Morning (and Afternoon) Shuffle - 5 Long Years Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Reporting in late with a shuffle that began this morning and stretched into this afternoon.

First, some reminders.  Tomorrow do not miss Amelia White with special guests Megan Palmer and Don Gallardo - The 5 Spot at six pm.  Thursday: Mark Robinson Showband with Davis Raines and Tiffany Huggins Grant - same place and same time.  Some alternative suggestions for Thursday:  If you are down Franklin way, be sure to check in to the Legendary Kimbro's Picking Parlor to see a superb line-up with Ben de la Cour and Marvin Etzioni (The Mandolin Man, Lone Justice).   If you are not at Mark Robinson's show or down in Franklin at Kimbro's, I hope it because you at the O.G. Basement to see Beau James and J.R. Wyatt.  Later on, you can head (or stay) at The 5 Spot for Sara Syms, Bird and Bear, and a new band debuting called Bell Dive. Alternatively, you can head over to Phat Bites in Hip Donelson and check out Furious Primates and others for a show that had to be moved due to the surprising and sad news of the abrupt closing of FooBar. Friday: After Tim Carroll Rock and Roll Happy Hour - head up down Main Street to The Family Wash for a triple bill that features E2TG favorites BARK along with Ned Hill of Ned Van Go, and Alvin Youngblood Hart's Muscle Theory.  Whew!  Is the weekend yet?

Let's get to that shuffle....

Music City Monday Shuffle - You Ain't Going Anywhere Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Well.. back to the work week...  For me, listening to cool tunes and then writing about those tunes is a great way to begin my day. So, that is what I do. As regular readers know, Monday's we focus our attention on Music City USA (aka Nashville). The morning shuffle comes from a playlist of artists with some connection to Nashville.  They either live here, used to live here, spent a significant amount of time here etc.  Or else, I somehow thought they had a connection to Nashville when I created the playlist and now I can come up with a convoluted explanation of why they are included here to distract from the fact that I made a mistake.  I don't think we have any in the latter category today, but we shall see.

Before we begin... posting may be a bit erratic the next couple of days due to some changes in my routine.  In case I do not get the opportunity, Wednesday night at 6:00pm, Amelia White's September Residency continues with special guests Megan Palmer!  and a short solo acoustic set by Don Gallardo!  Plus Ingrid Graudins will be sitting in with the band.  Be there or regret not being there!

To the shuffle!

Trending Tuesday Morning Shuffle - Crybaby Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

I am back. I was a bit under the weather yesterday.  Time is short - so let's jump right into the Trending Tuesday Shuffle.  First of all disclosure:  I have been receiving so much new music lately that I decided to create a new playlist featuring a bunch of that new music.  I will be using this playlist in place of the Trending Tuesday and Featured Friday playlist for the foreseeable future.  Readers will not detect any changes - but I did want to let you know about the change...

Trending Tuesday Morning Shuffle - Just Glad to Be Working Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

The weather is heating up in Nashville - temperatures are predicted to be hovering near 100 this weekend. I have no point to this, I just realized I rarely give weather updates on E2TG.

It really bothers me when people say there is no good music these days, because I am struggling to keep up with all of the great music which shows up in my inbox on pretty much a daily basis. If you aren't hearing great new music, it is because you aren't trying hard enough.

Here is a sampling of some great (fairly) recent music which you should give a listen....  We call Tuesdays, Trending Tuesday because Trending starts with a 'T' and is a word that the internet seems to like...

Music City Monday Morning Shuffle- Choking on These Vowel Sounds Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

MAY 18th. The 5 Spot in East Nashville. 9pm. E2TG Anniversary Extravaganza. BE THERE!

It's Monday... blech... I have a rough week at work so if posts get spotty that is why, but I will do my best.  Just over one week until the 5th Anniversary Party. I hope you will come if you can.

My music play sorts by first name (it does recognize "The" by the way). Anyway, all of the songs today were from the letters A-D purely by chance. I  did have to double check at one point to make sure the shuffle mode was really set...

Dig!
