In  the midst of heaviness and loss, it is important, I thing to find things that are life affirming.  It is also a good time to reevaluate how one spends one's time. It is not that every moment has to be "productive", but if one is spending too much time on things that are not necessary, do not bring joy, and do not benefit the world - then maybe, just maybe, it is worth thinking about why one is doing those things...

I think the thing about lines - thinking about lines in the sand or lines we say we will never cross or whatever is that once you cross that line - there are more lines and soon that original line is barely even discernable behind you and the importance of that line becomes lost.  

I have been thinking about this on several different levels, and there is something important I have to say about it.. but I think I will leave it at that for now.

Time to wrap up this week's Featured Friday Playlist recap and get ready for a new playlist hitting around midnight (or tomorrow morning if I fall asleep).  As always, I save some of the most interesting music of the week for this last segment (it's a trick to keep you all listening) Songs 26-29:

26. "Lord Won't Come" by Nero Kane 

We open up with segment with the lead single from the new album, Tales of Faith and Lunacy, by Italian dark psyche folk artist Nero Kane.  Cool stuff. 

27. "Brave the Storm" by Last Year's Man (feat. Anna Tivel)

Next up, we celebrate the release of the new album by Eugene, Oregon based singer-songwriter Last Year's Man (aka Tyler Fortier) by adding the title track to this week's Playlist. This track features the fabulous Ana Tivel. 

28. "Great Big White World" by Dead Girls Corp.

How about a Marilyn Manson cover? How about it?  Up next, we have the new single from L.A. based industrial band Dead Girls Corp - with their cover of this 1998 Manson song. A cool addition to this week's playlist. 

29. "Oxygen" by Pat Murry

We close out this week's playlist with the title track from the third album by Wisconsin-based hip-hop artist Pat Murry. This confessional track really resonated with me for reasons I can't fully explain. In event, I am glad to have this track round out this week's playlist. 

I hope I have fulfilled my mission to bring together as diverse and wonderful a playlist as I can - and to introduce you to some new music you might not otherwise hear.  As I mention, tomorrow, we will be back with a whole new list.

For sure crazy time... I am late posting today because... well, because these are crazy times.

Right at this moment, I am feeling overwhelmed by everything.  There are lots of things to be done, no places to go, and plenty of time for... what? Worry, action, distraction, fear, anger, joy, peace, love, hate, blame, despair, envy, activism, art, music... ah, music... well for the purpose, of E2TG today, I am going to stick to music.

Seriously, there are some good people doing good things these days, and plenty of opportunities to help in whatever way you can and how you feel led. I hope to post some links and things soon.

Today was my last day in my office for some period of time (at least two weeks), so the shuffle for the time being will not be my commute - it doesn't even take one song to make it from my bed to my chair.

But, today I did commute, and it was pouring down rain this morning, but there was very little traffic.  Let's just get to the shuffle. I have a whole list of things to do... (see above).

Be safe and stay in touch with people.  We have unprecedented ways to keep in touch.  We can isolate physically while staying connected.  Peace!

Oh, yeah, Happy St. Patrick's Day.  eh... cheers.

Hey, it is Pledge Week at Nashville's All-Volunteer Community Radio Station, WXNA.  I am thrilled to have a small part in this valuable community resource. Well, it is Friday! The end of another week of shuffles. I spent last night from six to after eleven, at The 5 Spot being reminded of what a great town this is for live music.  Started with the always awesome Jon Byrd filling in for Chuck Mead - and playing with Chuck's band, The Grassy Knoll Boys. Chuck Mead was doing stuff for the Grand Ole Opry at the Ryman, and he showed up in time to do one or two songs. 

The late show started with Zach Schmidt with Jackie Berkley and a great band that included the rhythm section from Buck N Stuff (Cameron Carrus and Lemuel Hayes). Finishing the night was Nick Dittmeier and the Sawdusters. I can't believe it has taken me this long to see Nick and his band, but I'm sure glad I was there last night.

Let's jump right into the shuffle for this Friday.

There have so been so many times... but there was a turning point when it went from being political to being personal and moral. I know what that point was for me.  For me it was when then candidate Trump mocked a reporter with disabilities and lost not one bit of support. More to the point, it was when people who know me and who know my daughter continued to support this candidate. It felt to me like he was mocking my daughter and some of my friends and family were cheering him on. That was the turning point for me, and it has only gotten worse and worse and worse, and it is every single day. And, I am getting tired of it. Tired of seeing people who I know - who I know have different political beliefs - demonstrating their utter lack of humanity. I honestly don't know how we come back from this place, but I want the bleeding to stop. I am going to Vote in November - like my life depends on it.  If you feel the way I do, I hope you will, too.

Time to dive back into the "New Music" playlist.  We have a bunch of new stuff and a fairly wide range of music.  Let's go!
