Okay... this has to be a fast one. I walked over to the Southern Festival of Books during my lunch break (when I usually write and post the blog) to see Julie Christensen and part of Stone Cupid (Chris Tench and Sergio Webb). They killed it as usual.
Last night - quickly - some highlights: Week 2 Campfire Propaganda Residency... guests Ariel Buie and Actual Wolf. Megan Palmer - on keyboard playing a new song and a John Moreland song. Nellie Clay with Actual Wolf, Tim Easton as usual, Brian Wright - fighting jet lag and killing it (with Aaron Lee Tasjan for a couple of songs), Darrin Bradbury and Megan Palmer - Darrin leading his own more of meditation...
Coverfest at Basement East!!! Major props to Terry Rickards for putting this together. Everyone was great, and I don't have time for a full report, but I will just say Los Colognes doing Bob Dylan's Infidels album in its entirety and nailing it and Allen Thompson Band as The Eagles were my absolute favorites (it was all good). The Eagles segment was so much fun!
Also, ICYMI - #E2TG posted the new single from Zachariah Red this morning.
Check it out here.

Well, back to reality and back to our daily shuffle. More recaps of AMA 2015 will be forthcoming.
Suffice it to say, I had the time of my life - hearing tons of great music, seeing and meeting people, and sharing some once in a lifetime moments.
It is Monday and that means, I am back to work and we have a nifty shuffle to kick off the post-AMA hangover week...

Well.... we made it to mid-week. Last night was a blast. I walked down from work to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum for the CD Release Show for the Dylan, Cash, and the Nashville Cats (the 2 CD Set accompanies the exhibit currently running). Bill Lloyd and the phenomenal Long Players served as the core band and were joined by an all-star lineup that included some of the players on the original recordings (like Al Kooper) as well as family members like John Carter Cash, Jamie Hartford, Britt Ronstadt. Charlie Daniels, Michael Nesmith (Monkees), Julie Christensen, Kathy Mattea, Radney Foster, Jason Ringenberg and many more made for a memorable event. A brief rain delay did not seem to chase to many people away.
After that show, I headed to the Hi Watt to catch Heathen Sons (who were really good) - they are competing in Music City Mayhem for a slot playing Live on the Green so check them out and give them a vote if you can. Benchmarks were next. Formerly known as Todd Farrell and the Dirty Birds, Benchmarks just recently released a new EP which we will be presenting soon. The band had not played together in a few months, but they really sounded good to me, and as always, the songs were excellent. Todd Farrell pulled double duty, joining headliners Two Cow Garage on guitar. It was the last night of a month long tour for the long running Ohio band, and they did not hold back - offering a full-frontal assault of their unique brand of rock and roll.
Now, to this mornings shuffle....

Hard to believe we've reached the end of another month. My Facebook memory thing reminded me that it was a year ago today that I came off of my self-imposed hiatus and returned to posting daily morning shuffles. It's been quite a year, and I have to stop and thank everyone who helped make it so. All the readers, artists, and all the people who have sent me music. That last group has increased exponentially - especially in the last month or so, and I have been struggling to keep up. I want to give all the music I receive a fair listen, and so I beg patience as I try to listen and respond to as many submissions as I can. Believe me, it is a great problem to have for someone who loves to hear all kinds of music.

So, I find myself short on time, so I have to speed through this. I hope you find time to dig deeper. I could not find the exact track for all the songs for the Video Playlist, so you my have to do some internet searches. Some great stuff, and well worth the effort.
