E2TG 6/18/2020 - Do Not Despair - First Light Mix (So You Say Remix)

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

There are positive signs and signs that are alarming.  Do not despair. I believe we are on the right path. As we march forward toward November and January, expect the other side to get desperate and lash out - often in destructive and frightening ways. But, do not despair, just keep fighting and marching and pushing forward. Let our progress gain momentum and become an unstoppable force!

I am going to work on some submission "guidelines for E2TG" - not hard and fast rules that must be followed - I hope I am never self-important enough to do that, but rather some tips about how best to reach me, how I feature music, how I don't, and things like that.  I have some ideas, but I need to organize my thoughts.  One thing though, I do love personalized e-mails that show that the person writing has actually read my blog. BUT, I do not expect every submission to do that - again, I try not to have an inflated sense of my own importance.

I strive very hard to have E2TG be an unique as possible.  I am aware that hundreds or thousands of sites and blogs are sent the same music - so some music I feature will likely be featured on many other sites. My quest to be unique then has to come from the variety and from featuring some local artists whose music may or may not be going to all those sites and blogs.   How am I doing?

It is almost time for a new Featured Friday Playlist, but we have our final three songs to feature today.  Be sure to check out the whole playlist before the new one posts tonight around midnight.

13. "Little Lion" by Teghan Devon
First up today, we have the title track from the new EP by Boston area singer-songwriter Teghan Devon .  The songs were written while Devon was grieving the loss of her life-long best friend - a golden retriever named Sarge. A beautiful record - that was originally scheduled for release in March but was pushed back due to the pandemic.
14. "Stop and Rewind" by Mile Me Deaf
Next up, we have a track from the new album Ecco by Austrian synth-driver, psych band Mile Me Deaf. The music has a very strong pop vibe. I dig it.
15. "Pandemic" by Luciano Illuminati
And, we close this week's playlist with a track from Terra Vision 2020 - a very timely album filled with topical songs from this most unusual year. Luciano Illuminati is an indie/alternative artist from Virginia Beach, Virginia.

E2TG 2019 Recap - Part 6 - Storms Mix (Stars Remix)

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

More details later, but I will be playing three hours of my favorites from 2019 (so three hours out of the ten + that I had on this playlist) on Christmas night on WXNA - into the wee small hours of the morning.

107 songs left in the playlist - short list today due to a few very long songs.  It will be very close if we get all of the playlist featured.  We shall see...

Another shuffle that really shows off the diversity of the music we feature here at E2TG.  Grateful for the chance to hear and write about the exciting things that are happening all over the planet with music.  I think of E2TG as a rebuttal to people who say there isn't any good music these days.  I also want it to be a resource for people who get tired of hearing and reading about the same five to ten artists that seem to get 90% of the coverage.  In many cases, those are wonderful artists who are making important music, but I like to remind people that those few are - just the surface of what is out there. In fact, the music I feature is just scratching a surface.  In spite of the financial challenges of making music in the second decade of the 21st Century, the call to create remains strong.

Off we go!

Featured Friday Morning Shuffle - Brat Weekend Mix (Jukebox Heart Remix)

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

*Note: The video playlist at the bottom of the post attempts to closely approximate the shuffle I listened to on my way to work this morning. When a video for a song was not available, I substituted another song by the same artist. When I could not find any videos by an artist, I included a related video or did not include a video for that track. This blog may reference unreleased tracks, however, no unreleased music is ever included.

This is my last day to remind you to make a donation to the WXNA Pledge Drive, but the drive runs through Sunday.

Time is marching on, and I am getting ready for a soft launch of E2TG version 3.0 soon.  I am going to make some decisions over the weekend about the timing of the changes.  December is historically the month we review the year that is winding down - which we do in the context of our annual awards - The Earies (tagline: They sound odd, but they really aren't)

Let's jump into this shuffle!

A bit short on time, but I will take a couple of minutes to remind you that the WXNA Fall Pledge Drive is running through this Sunday, November 24.  You can donate to support this vital community resource by visiting wxnafm.org or by calling (615) 933-9962 during broadcast hours.

Now, it is shuffle time!

Wild Wednesday Morning Shuffle - Shame Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

I'm a bit pushed for time...  I was going to stay in last night, but after I got some things done for the Fall E2TG Residency, I decided to venture out to $2 Tuesday.

Joseph Bradshaw opened the show. He is a young Nashville based singer-songwriter, and I was very impressed with his songs.

Ohio based The Vindys were next making their Nashville debut.  Really good soulful music.

Ben Stalets, also from Ohio, was next. Very entertaining and amusing performance - a great songs.

As always Derek Hoke brought it, backed by his regular rhythm section (Mark Robertson and Steve Latanation) and joined last night by Thayer Serrano on keyboard.

Hoke and Serrano were also part of the last act - called Magenta.  It was a thirty minute improv psyche jam that also featured Steven Cooper and Michael Zimmerman among others. A great ending to the night.

Today, Darrin Bradbury announced the release date for his first album on ANTI- Records - it is September 20.  He also released the title track - called Talking Dogs and Atom Bombs. I am so excited for Darrin and for the people who will experience his unique vision and voice. Of course, since you read E2TG, you have been in the know for years now.

Onward! We have a Wild Wednesday shuffle that features some new music and some not new music. Let's go!
