Trending Tuesday Morning Shuffle - Young and Stupid Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

*Note: The video playlist at the bottom of the post attempts to closely approximate the shuffle I listened to on my way to work this morning. When a video for a song was not available, I substituted another song by the same artist. When I could not find any videos by an artist, I included a related video or did not include a video for that track. This blog may reference unreleased tracks, however, no unreleased music is ever included.

The E2TG 8th Anniversary is now only 8 days away!

September 25 - Week 1: Ben Arthur + Conrad y Skordalia

October 2 - Week 2: Ryan Sobb + Don Gallardo

October 9 - Week 3: The Truehearts + Jason Erie

October 16 - Week 4:  Josh Gray  + Meghan Hayes

October 23 - Week 5: Microwave Mountain + The Big Dumb

I owe you all a full-recap of Muddy Roots and of AmericanaFest. Right now, I am running head-long into the E2TG 8th Anniversary Residency - which begins one week from tomorrow!!!!!

I had an extra long commute due to traffic and stuff, so we have 13 songs in the shuffle today. I've been too chatty of late - so I am going to try to keep it short and sweet.  Let's go!

"Lonesome Sound" by Joe Goodkin

Getting hold of the forthcoming new album from Chicago singer-songwriter Joe Goodkin (Paper Arrows is due out October 11) has been a great reminded of what an incredible songwriter he is.  Our video playlist includes a song he wrote as part of his interpretation of Homer's The Odyssey which he has toured the country performing over the last several years.   I am really digging this new music. Watch for Paper Arrows when it debuts.

"Hesitation" by Summer Cannibals

Next up, we have another track from Can't Tell Me Know by Portland, Oregon based Summer Cannibals.  The album cover features a childhood photo of lead singer Jessica Boudreaux who happens to be my first cousin once removed.  Really dug the energy and fun of their live set when they played the Basement last month, and I am enjoying the album very much.

"At the Edge of the Sea" by Wedding Present

Next up, we have another track from Tommy 30 (due out October 25, 2019 on HHBDTM Records. This is a 30th anniversary re-recording of the early compilation of singles, b-sides, and more from the British indie rock band that formed in Leeds in 1985.  The original compilation was released in 1988 and featured recordings made between 1985 and 1987. This was the b-side to the "Once More" single from 1986.

"Don't Give It Up" by Katrina Parker

Next, we have another track from Stars. The new album from Katrina Parker.  I have a definite soft spot for well crafted pop songs, and this album seems to be filled with them.  I was digging this song this morning.

"Mover and Shaker" by Def Robot

Next up, we have another track from Makers of Mountains from UK band Def Robot - the band has been incredibly prolific this year (something I'm just now realizing). They are set to release Sabbatical on September 27 and that will their 4th release in as many months.

"Careless With a Heart" by Helene Cronin

October 11 is the release date for Old Ghosts and Lost Causes by Texas singer-songwriter Helene Cronin. We have been fortunate enough to keep getting hold of some of the great Texas songwriters working today - and much of that is coming via Broken Jukebox Media (Adam Dawson).  Grateful for it.

"It Is What It Is" by Grand Canyon

Next up, we have another track from Yesterday's News by Grand Canyon. The band captures the feel of those great folk/rock/pop records of the 1970s while created their own unique sound. As of this moment, this is my favorite song on the album.

"One Dancing Fool" by Heavydrunk

October 4 is the street date for Holywater - the album will be the debut release on Nashville/Franklin based label 4142 Records.  The band is led by Rob Robinson who is best known currently as the owner of Puckett's in Leiper's Fork.

"A View From the Drowning Pool" by San Pedro

San Pedro - is a collective from Manchester made up of some of that city's finest musicians.  The Demon Sessions is the name of this release.

"If You Ever Will" by Ben Davis Jr.

Next up, we have another track from SuthernAhia by singer-songwriter Ben David Jrs.  More great songwriting.

"LAX" (Rough Version) by Kristin Hersh

An alternate take on one of the earlier released songs from the new album by Kristin Herch  (Throwing Muses) - Possible Dust Clouds - which has been out a few months.

"Madness" by Dizraeli

The Unmaster is due out this Friday.  It is the new album  from UK rapper and composer known as Dizareli.

"Nothing to Complain About" by Bark

We close with E2TG band of the year, BARK from Knoxville with a track from their Terminal Everything album - a triumphant album exploring devastating losses. The album title may be a reference to the 1985 solo album by Tim Lee's old band The Windbreakers. Love Tim and Susan Lee and love this album.
