Wild Wednesday Morning Shuffle - Ipso Facto Motif Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

*Note: The video playlist at the bottom of the post attempts to closely approximate the shuffle I listened to on my way to work this morning. When a video for a song was not available, I substituted another song by the same artist. When I could not find any videos by an artist, I included a related video or did not include a video for that track. This blog may reference unreleased tracks, however, no unreleased music is ever included.

The E2TG 8th Anniversary STARTS TONIGHT!

September 25 - Week 1: Ben Arthur + Conrad y Skordalia (TONIGHT)

October 2 - Week 2: Ryan Sobb + Don Gallardo

October 9 - Week 3: The Truehearts + Jason Erie

October 16 - Week 4:  Josh Gray  + Meghan Hayes

October 23 - Week 5: Microwave Mountain + The Big Dumb

Hope to see everyone tonight at The 5 Spot!

Since there was no shuffle yesterday, today's Wild Wednesday shuffle comes from the New Music playlist.  Let's get to it!

"Something Worth Fighting For" by Joe Goodkin

First off, we have another track from the Paper Arrows - the forthcoming new album from Chicago based singer-songwriter Joe Goodkin.  The album is not out until October 11.  In the video playlist, we have another song from his ground-breaking interpretation of Homer's The Odyssey.

"Thoroughbreds" by Bill Bloomer

Next up, we have a track from Bounty - the new album from Bill Bloomer.  A former rodeo champion (among other aspects of his fascinating life story), Bloomer should know a thing or two about thoroughbreds.

"MOTIF" by Ring Ring Rouge

UK indie band Ring Ring Rogue are up next with a song from their 2nd album Talking in Installments. Could not find a video for this song, so I picked another track from the new album with video that seems appropriate to the news of the day.

"Love You Already" by Chris and Adam Carroll

Adam Carroll has two new albums this year which is cause enough to celebrate. The fact that the second release of the year is a collaboration with his talented wife Chris is like a very rich and delicious icing on the cake. Good Farmer is the name of the collaborative album, and it is wonderful.

"Bad Scene" by Sonic Reducers

If you've never heard an Ivy League punk rock band, then take a listen to Sonic Reducers and their debut  album.  The band is made up of students from Cornell University including The Foresters Luke Slomba. I'm digging it, and the live videos that I have scene are fantastic.

"Go Out And Get 'Em, Boy!" by The Wedding Present

Next up, we have another track from Tommy 30 - the 30th anniversary recording of The Wedding Present's Tommy compilation.  The UK based indie rock band that formed in 1985 is led by David Gedge who is the only constant member of the band.

"Old Records" by Nick Nace

I am so excited to bring you our first listen to Wrestling with the Mystery by East Nashville (by way of Canada and other places) singer-songwriter Nick Nace.  The album was produced by 2015 E2TG Artist of the Year Jon Latham.  Nick played the 2017 E2TG 6th Anniversary Residency, and I have been anticipating this album ever since. If you have seen Nick live and don't recognize the title of this song - it is also known as "Americana Mambo No. 5" ;-)  Seriously, I love this song and the album.

"Ipso Facto" by Eye Said So

Austin, Texas based band Eye Said So are up next with a track from their self-titled debut EP.  Always nice to have a Latin phrase in the shuffle.  Digging this record.

"Andantino" by Pat Power

As if having a Latin phrase in the shuffle didn't make E2TG sophisticated enough, we close with some classical guitar from Pat Power (of one time E2TG Band of the Year Valued Customer) playing a composition by French classical guitarist Napoleon Coste. It is taken from Power's release Classical vol. 1.
