*Note: The video playlist at the bottom of the post attempts to closely approximate the shuffle I listened to on my way to work this morning. When a video for a song was not available, I substituted another song by the same artist. When I could not find any videos by an artist, I included a related video or did not include a video for that track. This blog may reference unreleased tracks, however, no unreleased music is ever included.
And just like that it is Thursday! Man this week is flying by!
We are less than three weeks from the start of the E2TG 8th Anniversary Residency:
September 25 - Week 1: Ben Arthur + Conrad y Skordalia
October 2 - Week 2: Ryan Sobb + Don Gallardo
October 9 - Week 3: The Truehearts + Jason Erie
October 16 - Week 4: Josh Gray + Meghan Hayes
October 23 - Week 5: Microwave Mountain + The Big Dumb
Now, let's get moving with the Shuffle!
"Story of My Life" by Meghan Hayes
We start off with another wonderful song from Seen Enough Leavers by East Nashville's own Meghan Hayes. After taking a bit of a break from music, Hayes came roaring back this year, and made one of the best albums of 2019. I am so thrilled that she agreed to be part of the E2TG Residency. She will be joining Josh Gray and his band for a full band set on October 16 at The 5 Spot.
"Hi-Fi Love" by Chris and Adam Carroll
Next up, we have the lead track from Good Farmer - the new album with Chris and Adam Carroll. The song was written by Adam Carroll and Scott Nolan, and Carroll has previously released the song of his Old Town Rock 'N Roll album plus he released a live version on his album Live at Flipnotics.
"The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" by Mrs. Henry
We continue to make our way through The Last Waltz tribute album by L.A. band Mrs. Henry.
"Hott Funn" by Your 33 Black Angels
Next up, we have another cool track from Eternities I by the Brooklyn band Your 33 Black Angels. Digging on this album quite a bit.
"Chug It Down and Go" by Daniel Seymour and Mark Robinson
Next, we have the title track to one of my favorite album of late last year and early this year. Chug it Down and Go was a labor of love for Daniel Seymour and Mark Robinson. Just a fun rootsy/old time music album.
"Courante" by Pat Power
How about some classical guitar from our friend Pat Power of Toronto. This is a Bach composition from Power's recent collection, Classical Vol. 1.
"Yesterday's News" by Grand Canyon
Next up, we have the title track from the brand new EP from L.A. supergroup Grand Canyon. The band's members collectively have sold a ton of records and have amazing resumes. Best of all, they pull it all together in a really tight and tuneful package.
"Inclined Plane" by Them Airs
We close things out with a nine minute track by Connecticut band Them Aires. This is from an EP called River Defender, Reflector, Refractor, River, Crypt Mask Anthology which was released ahead of their debut album Echo Park Bomb City. As I have mentioned, this band features Evan and Hayden of The Foresters and Cade Williams of Smokey the Firebear.
