*Note: The video playlist at the bottom of the post attempts to closely approximate the shuffle I listened to on my way to work this morning. When a video for a song was not available, I substituted another song by the same artist. When I could not find any videos by an artist, I included a related video or did not include a video for that track. This blog may reference unreleased tracks, however, no unreleased music is ever included.
The E2TG 8th Anniversary is underway - Next Show October 2!

October 9 - Week 3: The Truehearts + Jason Erie

October 23 - Week 5: Microwave Mountain + The Big Dumb

Thanks to everyone who came out last night, and thanks to Ben Arthur and Conrad y Skordalia for a great show! If you missed it, you have four more chances to catch the E2TG Residency. Next up: Ryan Sobb (full band) and the Album Release Show for Don Gallardo and How Far West with special guest. Don't miss this one!
Now, let's get on with the shuffle! It's a good one!
"False Anthem" by Summer Cannibals
Up first, we have another track from Can't Tell Me No, but Portland Oregon based Summer Cannibals. Digging this album that features my first cousin once removed who I met for the first time the night her band tore the roof off of The Basement with Sad Baxter.
"Alla Cubana" by Pat Power
Next up, for the second day in a row we have a piece from Pat Power's Classical Vol. 1. This is a composition by the English composer William Walton written for the clasical guitar around 1970 or 1971.
"Love is Alright" by Sasha Bell
Next up, we have a first listen to Love is Alright by Sasha Bell (Essex Green / Ladybug Transistor / Finishing School). The album is not due out until November. It will be Bell's debut solo album, and I really loved this song. This is a reference with a somewhat limited audience, but I favorably compare her vocals here to Melora Zaner of the Nashville band Raging Fire. Musically, thing gorgeous 60s influenced pop music with a modern flair.
"El Camino Fly" by Helene Cronin
Next up, we have another track from Old Ghosts and Lost Causes (due out October 11). The album was produced by Matt King and features top-tier musicians like Kenny Vaughan and Byron House (and more). This is a wonderful song. Yet another strong release via the fine folks at Broken Jukebox Media.
"(I Walked Away From) The Girl in Yellow" by David J.
Next up - another track from David J (Bauhaus, Love and Rockets) star-studded forthcoming new album Missive To An Angel From The Halls Of Infamy And Allure (due out October 18). I have long been fan of David J's music, so it is particularly special to get a chance to preview this album. Featuring Tony Dammit of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and Anton Newcombe of Brian Jonestown Massacre and more.
"Lullaby" by Ben Arthur
Fresh off of his wonderful performance at last night's E2TG Residency show, Ben Arthur returns to the shuffle with another track from his forthcoming Perspective album. Arthur's tour rolls on with stops in Memphis and Mobile coming up next.
"Her Favourite Dirty Joke" by Nick Nace
Another day and another track from Wrestling with the Mystery the forthcoming album from East Nashville's own Nick Nace. The album will be out October 25. Looking forward to continuing to feature this album from one of my favorite local songwriters.
"Hard Acts to Follow" by Bill Bloomer
Another return from yesterday's shuffle: we have another from Bounty by Bill Bloomer. The American Ex-Patriate with the colorful backstory has made another fine album - following on the heels of Jubilee. Bloomer's rich voice and wise songs carry the weight of his most extraordinary life so far.
"(The Moment Before) Everything Spoiled Again" by The Wedding Present
"Every Mother's Son" by The Wedding Present
In this age of re-releases, it is interesting to hear the legendary UK band The Wedding Present - revisiting some of their oldest recordings with this new version of this compilation of their earliest songs.
"The Hard Stuff" by Susan Gibson
Next up, we have the title track from the forthcoming new album by Texas singer-songwriter Susan Gibson. The Hard Stuff is due out October 4. October is shaping up to be an amazing month of new music.
"Goodnight, Good Luck" by Randy Lewis Brown
We close with yet another forthcoming out (this one is actually out tomorrow!) from another Texas singer-songwriter Randy Lewis Brown. Red Crow features 13 original songs and boasts an all-star cast of Texas musicians. A great way to close out the shuffle!
