Wild Wednesday Morning Shuffle - Bearing Down Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

*Note: The video playlist at the bottom of the post attempts to closely approximate the shuffle I listened to on my way to work this morning. When a video for a song was not available, I substituted another song by the same artist. When I could not find any videos by an artist, I included a related video or did not include a video for that track. This blog may reference unreleased tracks, however, no unreleased music is ever included.

I really was going to stay in last night to try to finish recovering from Muddy Roots, but then I saw the line-up at $2 Tuesday....   Solo sets from two of Nashville's best songwriters - Ryan Sobb* and Nick Nace.  Plus Derek Hoke with Laur Joamets sitting in along with Derek's usual band of Steve Latanation and Mark Robertson.  And closing out the night was the all-star BiPolar Bear - led by Laur Joamets.

*Don't forget to make your plans to see Ryan Sobb with a  full band during Week 2 of the E2TG Fall Residency along with the always wonderful Don Gallardo and How Far West!!!!!

Anyway - let's get rolling.  It is Wednesday - when we usually do Wild Wednesday (and that is what I am calling this shuffle) but this week - we are going to stay in the "New Music" playlist since we were off last week.  Let's go!

"Hog Leg Stew" by Bill Bloomer

Just in time for lunch (which is when I am writing this), we have E2TG favorite Bill Bloomer from his latest album Bounty - with some Hog Leg Stew.  The album was recorded in Morongo Valley, California.  We have shared Bloomer's colorful story multiple times before.  He is an American Expatriate based in France - when he not barnstorming around his native country.

"Jenny Ridge" by Tony Logue
"The Storm" by Tony Logue

Next up, we have a twofer from Kentucky based singer-songwriter Tony Logue from his Live on Red Barn Radio release - which came out back in July.  Both songs showcase Logue's considerable songwriting chops. Jenny Ridge is literally a haunting song, and The Storm is a song of defiance in the midst of the powerful storms that life can bring.

"Until You Come Again" by Katrina Parker

Next up, we have another track from Stars by former The Voice contestant Katrina Parker.  The album is due out Friday.  Parker has a strong pop sensibilities, and I am digging this album.

"So Fucked" by Mouth Reader

Some garage rock out of Murfreesboro, Tennessee from the album Holographic Phase. Mouth Reader are known for their colorful graphics and heavy rock sound.

"I Don't Know Why" by Mark Cline Bates

Diving back into the singer-songwriter realm - we have Mark Cline Bates from his King of the Crows album which was produced by Don Dixon.  Don Dixon will be in Nashville for an Americana showcase alongside Mitch Easter and Chris Stamey.  Going back to this song, it is wonderful.

"2 Fake IDs" by Susan Gibson

Next up, we have a first listen to The Hard Stuff from Texas singer-songwriter Susan Gibson.  The album is due out in October.  This is Gibson's 7th solo album - she previously was part of the 1990's band The Groobees. This song drew me in, and I can't to check out the rest of the album.

"Plenty Wonder" by Justin Peter Kinkel-Schuster

Next, we have another track from Take Heart Take Care from Arkansas based singer-songwriter Justin Peter Kinkel-Schuster. Kinkel-Schuster will be at The Basement in Nashville on Thursday night.

"Like I Used To" by Summer Cannibals

Speaking of The Basement, it was just a couple of week's ago when I got Summer Cannibals at that venue. This is the hard rocking/heavy touring band from Portland, Oregon that features my cousin Jessica Boudreaux on guitar and vocals.  This is our first official listen to their latest album Can't Tell Me Know.
