It is Friday, and that means a brand new Featured Friday Playlist.  Please check it out, and if you like give it a follow.  As always, I encourage you to support musicians, songwriters, and independent labels whenever and however you are able.

We highlight the first ten songs of the Playlist below, but the whole playlist is an interesting mix of a lot of different styles of music.

Many of these songs will be featured on next Tuesday's Ear to the Ground radio show.

E2TG 10/29/2021 - Featured Friday - Painful Truth Mix (Shadow Hunters Remix)

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

And just like that, we have reached the end of another week, and that means Featured Friday is back and that means, we have a brand new Featured Friday Playlist - this week's playlist includes mostly songs/albums released this week and last week as well as the usual songs from the last month or so that just reached our ears over the past two weeks.  Let's go!

Last night, I had the opportunity to check out the new Eastside Bowl - which for those of you who don't know is a new bowling alley, music venue, restaurant in Madison.  Last night's event was a multi-media event - They Came to Rock! - an alien music extravaganza - that was entertaining and fun.

The music featured Anne McCue, Jamie Rubin, and others - plus guest Brian Wright. Featuring songs by Wright, Dave Coleman and more. Plus Wild Pony Telisha was part of the dance crew.

Please check out the new Playlist below and support the artists you dig. We highlight ten of the songs below- but all of the songs are top-notch.

We reached the end of another week, and that means a new Featured Friday Playlist. A bit on the short side this week as I have not had a lot of time to dig into my submissions.  The list, though short, is packed full of great music. Enjoy and as always support your favorite independent artists.

Wild Wednesday Morning Shuffle - Plead With You Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Final tally - about 90 "Earies" 3 Band/Artists of the Year!

Okay! It is officially 2017 here at E2TG.

Last night - my first night out of 2017 was a good reminder of why I love living in Nashville. Amazing live music from 6pm - after 1am.  Seeing some of the most talented artists working in music - some performing, some just hanging out.  Jon Byrd always wonderful, saw some authentic country and western music at the American Legion, and ended the night seeing the super talented Jim Oblon along with guest Patrick Sweany and Little Joe from Sturgill Simpson's band tearing it up big time at The Family Wash!

Today, we have a Wild Wednesday Shuffle

Featured Thursday Morning Shuffle - Let Them Rupture Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Music is good for whatever ails you... that has been my philosophy for some time now. In recent years, I have been fortunate enough to be able to add "and the community around it" after the word music in that philosophy.  Last night, once again, that I idea was reinforced.

Between my vacation and other things, it had been about two weeks since I set foot in my favorite East Nashville hang, The 5 Spot.  Although, there was a part of my that wanted to stay in - I am very glad that I went out.  I ended up being there for over six hours and heard a ton of amazing music beginning with Wild Ponies just after six o'clock and ending with Tommy Womack just after midnight.  In between, I heard and saw, Amy Speace, Stelle Amor, and Andrew Adkins.   The early show was Wild Ponies and Speace - and billed as a Happy Hour of Healing.  Which is was in the most uplifting and amazing way possible.  It was especially healing to be able to hang out with lovely, compassionate, passionate people who were hurting in the same way that I was (and am).

Musical highlights included Wild Ponies being awesome as always - loved their song "Love is Not a Sin" and their cover of Katy Perry's "Roar", Amy Speace's cover of The Waterboys' "Strange Boat" and her set ending sing-a-long of "This Land is Your Land" (all of the verses) which featured Speace, Megan Palmer, Allen Thompson, Julie Christensen, Amelia White, Stacie Huckaba, Kira Small and more.  I dug Stelle Amor's relentless joyful soul music, it was great seeing Andrew Adkins with a full band - doing several tracks from his Glass Castles album which we have been featuring on here.  Tommy Womack was joined by his son Nathan and the awesome rhythm section of Daniel Seymour and Pete Pulkrabek. He opened with "Like a Rolling Stone" and ended with "A Cockroach After the Bomb" - and in between played some of his incredible songs like "Alpha Male and the Canine Mystery Blood", "Nice Day", and the Government Cheese songs, "C'mon Back to Bowling Green".

Onward,  tomorrow I am off work - so likely there will not be a shuffle.  Partially for that reason and partially because I have not yet created a Throwback Thursday Playlist on my new phone yet, I decided to shuffle today from the "New Music" playlist.  Let's go!

Trending Tuesday Morning Shuffle - Imitation Soul Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

After three weeks of having a tooth pulled, having a really bad sinus infection (worst one I have ever had), and then Americana Fest, I did some recording for Double Shot with Sue last night - tonight's agenda is laundry and catching up on stuff.  If you can, you should definitely head over to the High Watt for Brian Ritchey, Jon Latham, and Smoking Flowers.

Looking ahead, Amelia White and Mark Robinson each wrap up their residencies for September on Wednesday and Thursday.  White's guest is Reckless Johnny Wales and in band guest Julie Christensen.   Robinson's has a expanded Showband with amazing vocalists and writers Jonell Mosser and Vickie Carrico.   Both shows are don't miss affairs.

Now, it is Tuesday.  For Trending Tuesday, we are still shuffling from the "New Music" playlist - made up mainly of music I received either directly from artists or through publicists.

ICYMI:  Please see my preview of the upcoming September Residencies at The 5 Spot!

I am short on time so I will jump right into it.  Mondays we take a moment to celebrate the amazing and diverse musical output of the city known for music. No "bro-country" here folks...

Featured Friday Morning Shuffle - Honk if You Feel Fine Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

TGIF!  As the temperature cranks up, so does the musical fun.  First of all, it was great to see Darrin Bradbury playing with Megan Palmer as part of the Don Gallardo residency at The 5 Spot yesterday. Second of all, Don Gallardo!!!!  Man oh man!  He is so good.  He still has a few more weeks left in residency, and I high recommend you get yourself down there.  I understand that next week he has the red hot band The Cordovas lead by Joe Firstman.  The Cordovas were recently added to the lineup for the Americana Music Association Festival in September, but you can see them next Thursday without a wristband.

I had a great time hanging out with friends last night and a few of us migrated over to Drifters to see Tim Carroll and Luella along backed by Cameron Carrus and Toby Caldwell.

My point is that this was first class, grade A musical talent all within a couple of blocks in East Nashville on a pleasant Thursday evening.  Sometimes, I think we, here, take what we have for granted, and I was grateful for the opportunity last night to really appreciate what we have.

A final notice (from this forum), that Double Shot with Joe and Sue on WXNA-LP Nashville debuts tomorrow morning at 11am Central. This is my new radio show with the amazing Sue Havlish.  Speaking for myself, I am beyond humbled to get this opportunity to join this incredible radio station that has already reshaped the Nashville airwaves.  You can tune in at 101.5FM if you are in the immediate Nashville area.  Everyone else, can listen via wxnafm.org or via the TuneIn App.

On Friday, we play some featured music...

We jump into the Trending Tuesday topic with a wide-ranging set of songs that have some kind of mini-themes built into it.

Music City Monday Morning Shuffle - Shoot Right Through You Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Kind of a dreary, post-time change Monday in Nashville - although the sun was out this morning enough to blind me as I drove in to work.

It's a another Music City Monday - time to feature songs some how, some way connected to Nashville, Tennessee.

Darrin Bradbury is playing tonight at the fairly recently reopened 12th and Porter...  Busy week of music coming up... more later...
