It is Friday, and that means a brand new Featured Friday Playlist. Please check it out, and if you like give it a follow. As always, I encourage you to support musicians, songwriters, and independent labels whenever and however you are able.
We highlight the first ten songs of the Playlist below, but the whole playlist is an interesting mix of a lot of different styles of music.
Many of these songs will be featured on next Tuesday's Ear to the Ground radio show.
Featured Friday Playlist
1. "Box of Rocks" by Jason Erie
We are two weeks away from the release of Tiny Fires - the much anticipated new album from Nashville based singer-songwriter Jason Erie. Today he released the third single from that album.
2. "I Get So High" by Tim McNary
Next up, we have a new single from another Nashville songwriter, Tim McNary. We have been following him for several years - since before he moved to Nashville.
3. "Keep Me High" by Jeremy Ivey
This song is the logical follow-up to the Tim McNary song... Jeremy Ivey just released his third album on ANTI- Records - called Invisible Pictures. Consistently, one of my favorite Nashville songwriters.
4. "In the Light (feat. Erin Rae)" by Mary Bragg
Sticking to Nashville, we have a single from singer-songwriter Mary Bragg, who has been putting out some great music. This one features the immensely talented Erin Rae.
5. "There is Power in a Union" by Georg Nielsen
Moving away from Nashville, we have our old friend Georg Nielsen (aka Jon Magnusson) which an instrumental guitar cover of the Billy Bragg classic - which in turn was Bragg's interpretation of a 1913 union song written by Joe Hill.
6. "Madison Avenue Blues" by Pete Mancini
New York songwriter Pete Mancini travelled to Water Valley, Mississippi to record his album Killing the Old Ways - which was co-produced by Matt Patton (Drive by Truckers). This is the second single from that album.
7. "Hold On" by Nalani Rothrock
Nalani Rothrock is a fairly recent transplant to Nashville from Tampa, Florida. This is her brand new single.
8. "Arson on Vine" by Milquetoast & Co.
Next up, we have a new single from Denver based alt-folk band Milquetoast & Co.
9. "Manic Pixie Dream Girl" by Taryn Hadfield
Seattle based singer-songwriter Taryn Hadfield is up next in the Playlist with the title track from her new album.
10. "Palm Slave" by Art d'Ecco
And, we close out this portion of the playlist with the new single and new sound from Canadian singer-songwriter and artist Art d'Ecco. A great way to take us out for the day.
