E2TG 3/16/2022 - Mid-Week - Bank in Brazil Mix (Wild Azalea Remix)

I feel like I have been a rush a lot lately, and honestly, I'm not sure that I see that changing, but I wanted to take a minute to check in....

Tuesday nights in Nashville have become of my favorite nights for music in Nashville. I have been enjoying Darrin Bradbury's Home for Wayward Songwriters at Dee's. Darrin, of course, is an all-time E2TG favorite - the most tagged artist in E2TG history - two time Artist of the Year etc.  This night always features some amazing songwriters - some favorites and some new to me. Despite all the changes and despite COVID - Nashville has a thriving community of young, independent songwriters.

Also, I am happy to report that $2 Tuesday is back at The 5 Spot.  After experimenting with different time slots and prices post-shutdown, the classic is back and the crowds are returning.  In addition to being a great hang, the music is always top-notch. Again, whether it is old favorites or new to me music - I am very rarely disappointed.  Plus, every week Derek Hoke leads his amazing band. Last night, his band included pedal steel master Adam Kurtz and keyboardist Thayer Sarrano who along with Hoke, drummer Steve Latanation, and bassist Mark Robertson - look Hoke's songs to new and dizzying heights.

Now on with today's shuffle:

Wednesday Morning Shuffle

" A Bank in Brazil" by Blink (from We Robbed a Bank in Brazil - 2021)
First up, a fun tune from last year via this Irish band - misremembered television moments and childhood fun - lead to a great EP.
"Miss Misery" by Cameron Carrus (from The End of the World - 2020)
An Elliot Smith cover from E2TG favorite bassist Cameron Carrus and his quarantine solo album. This release is not on You Tube, so I found an old video of Cameron...
"Little Girl" by Kelly Ravin (from Engine - 2017)
Next up, we go back to 2017 and this album from now Nashville and then Vermont based singer-songwriter Kelly Ravin.
"Hope" by Delta Maid (from Katie - 2020)
Liverpool based singer-songwriter Katie Foulkes (aka Delta Maid) returns with another track from her album Katie.
"Deep River Hollow" by Ashleigh Flynn & The Riveters (from Live from the Blue Moon - 2021)
Ashleigh Flynn has been a favorite of mine since I first became aware of her music. I think the first time I saw her live was at a $2 Tuesday several years back. She has been making great music recently with her band The Riveters. This is from a live recording of a 2019 performance from the Blue Moon stage of the Oregon Country Fair. She released it last year after the fair was cancelled for the second year in a row.
"Stayed for Your Love" by Doc Carter (from High Tide for Low Times - 2021)
Doc Carter is a veteran musician and songwriter from Corpus Christi, Texas who released his debut solo album last year.
"Possession" by Elvis Costello & The Attractions (from Get Happy!! - 1980)
I don't remember how long ago, I added  Elvis Costello's fourth album (his third with the Attractions) to my phone, but after this song, we have two more to feature (out of 20). "Possession" is the sixth song on side one of the original release.
"Naykid by 12XPretty (from 12XPretty - 2020)
Next up, we have a track from the self-titled debut album by this Victoria B.C. based electro pop band.
"Wild Azalea" by Eric Bachmann (from No Recover - 2018)
And, we close with a track I got off a friend's mix CD from 2018 - from Athens, Georgia based Eric Bachmann (Archers of Loaf, Crooked Fingers).   A great way to close things out.
