E2TG 2019 Recap - Part 9 - Shine On Mix (Toxic Remix)

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Time is short!  Here is the Shuffle for today!

"Do the Damn Thing" by Tino Drima (from Suitin' Up)

"Can't Get Enough of You" by Reckless Johnny Wales and His Trans Genre Orchestra (from End It With a Love Song)

A year with new Reckless Johnny is a good year.  This time, he is in a bit of a romantic mood.

"Ghost" by Rod Picott (from Tell the Truth Shame the Devil)

So pleased to get to cover Rod Picott's excellent album this year.  One of Nashville's absolute finest.

"Josh Gibson" by Coyote Motel (Ted Drozdowski) (from Coyote Motel)

Ted Drozdowski takes things in a new direction with the first of two albums released by his new Coyote Motel project.

"360 No Scope" by Ghost Town Remedy (from 360 No Scope - single)

We got the chance to premier this fun video from a great Nashville rock band.

"Nothing To Do With You" by Charlie Hager (from Truth and Love)

Charlie Hager may have moved to Vegas, but make no mistake - this is a REAL Nashville album.  He remains an important part of the community here.

"Ginger Ale and Lorna Doones" by Amy Speace (from Me and the Ghost of Charlemagne)

Sometimes I get lucky and get invited to CD release parties and sometimes I get really lucky and that party is for the new album by the one and only Amy Speace.

"State of Mind" by Eye Said So; Taeryn Rayne (from Eye Said So)

"Who Cares" by David G. Smith (from Who Cares)

"Shine On" by Steve Poltz (from Shine On)

Trending Thursday Morning Shuffle - Daddy Issues Mix

No philosophical rant today  - the shuffle is just to good, and I want to get right to it.  I added a bunch of new music to my playlist last night. I think only one of those new songs came up today, but expect much more in the days and weeks to come.

I'd like to take this opportunity to remind you of the on-going on-line silent auction being conducted in conjunction with the Magnolia Roads American Roots Hoedown IV - coming this weekend. The auction ends Saturday and the winners will be announced just before the final act - Lady Couch - takes the stage. You do not need to be present to win, but if you around Nashville - please consider coming out.  All proceeds from the auction are going to the Ben Eyestone Fund of the Music Health Alliance. A vital organization that helps provide lifesaving medical assistance to working musicians.

Elizabeth Cook, Jason Isbell, John Prine, The Grateful Dead, Wilco and more have all donated items which you can bid on now.  Just visit the website to see the items and BID.

Now, let's get to the Trending Tuesday shuffle. I added more music to the playlist last night - which meant making some surgical cuts to keep the list at 500 (my self-imposed limit).  Anyway, let's get right to the shuffle!

Trending Thursday Morning Shuffle - Twisted Up Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

It is just over two weeks until the Magnolia Roads American Roots Hoedown IV (April 26 and 27) at The 5 Spot.  I am excited to officially announce that I will be acting as Co-MC for this mini-festival.  Great music, beer specials, a silent auction, a community canvas art project, and so much more. This is a don't miss event!

I am working on getting a ton of new music added to my playlist - I may have to move some songs off of  "Trending" playlist. That's never an easy decision for me to make.

Anyway, let's dive right into to today's shuffle because time is tight!

ICYMI - Earlier today we premiered a new video from Nashville-based duo Anana Kaye for their song, "Blueberry Fireworks".  It is a gorgeous short film - if you haven't seen it yet, you can check it out HERE.

Meanwhile, it is the end of another work week- finally - and we have our final shuffle of the year.

Trending Tuesday Morning Shuffle - Smiles Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Onward...

Man, it is already past the middle of March.  The first quarter of 2019 is almost over. I think this year, I am going to create quarterly playlists of featured music instead of monthly like last year.

I rather spontaneously signed up to read at an all day poetry event on Wednesday.  Details HERE.

Time to get onto our Shuffle!  We have a ton of new music - and some still waiting for me to add to my playlist.  Let's go!

Trending Tuesday Morning Shuffle - Best Version of Me Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

On we go...

I wanted to mention a "Save the Dates" for an upcoming event at The 5 Spot that will feature some artists you've heard and heard about on E2TG.  April 26 and 27th will be the 4th edition of the Magnolia Roads Hoedown, and E2TG is thrilled to have been asked to be a part of this great event - which will benefit the Ben Eyestone Fund at Musicians Health Alliance. More information to come - including some interviews with some of the featured artists (like we did last year).

In the meantime, we have another Trending Shuffle.  A couple of first listens are included and some great tracks from albums we have been featuring of late.

Let's get right to it!

The Drift - A Novel by Joe Wolfe-Mazeres Available at Amazon.com (Kindle edition also available)

Well, I still have a couple more posts (one done and one not done) to go to finish off 2018, but it is 2019 and I am back to work.  So... here is our first shuffle of 2019. It is Wednesday - so let's get wild! It's been a little while since we did a Wild Wednesday shuffle - which is where we shuffle all the songs in my phone.

I have a huge collection of music to add to the mix to begin 2019. This is music accumulated from late November until now that I didn't get a chance to upload in December. I'll hopefully be getting that done tonight.

For now, let's shuffle!

All of this happened a long time ago when the world was a very different place. Of course, none of us knew that at the time.

I have often written about $2 Tuesday hosted by Derek Hoke at The 5 Spot. It is consistently great fun and even you don't know the performers, it is consistently great music. In case you are wondering, I am not getting paid to say this, but they do let me pay just $2 admission to see 4 or 5 quality bands/artists, and pay $2 for Yazoo beers.   Last night, started with Ryan Sobb (I'm going to see saying it), he is one of my favorite "new" songwriters in Nashville. Next was Lauren Anderson (with Taylor Kropp playing guitar) - I had never heard Anderson, but I really dug it.  Next was Derek Hoke himself - as always a solid set of music with the rhythm section of Mark Robertson (Legendary Shack Shakers, Eskimos, and Prayer Flag) and Steve Latanation (Agent Orange, Stone Cupid).  Next was Austin based, south Louisiana born Rod Melancon with great band.  I've been following his music closely and it was great seeing him live and in person.  I was tired and didn't get to see much of the late night band, Truett, but what I heard sounded great.  As always, DJ Tim Hibbs kept the music going between live acts.

It's Wednesday, and I'm a bit tired from last night, but I must push on.  As we do on Wednesdays, we have a shuffle from all of the songs saved to my phone. We call it "Wild Wednesday" - let's shuffle!

Trending Thursday Morning Shuffle - Fair Trade Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook

Once again, Jon Latham proves that rock n roll is alive and well.  His powerhouse set at the CD release show for Lifers included special guests Lilly Hiatt, Darrin Bradbury, and Josh Morris. A Fugazi cover embedded in "Kimberly Met Billy", and a cover of "Greetings from Nashville" (a Jason and the Scorchers gem written by the late Tim Krekel. The latter was special to me as a link from my Nashville music fan past to present (and because it rocked). Latham's band: Andrew Leahey and Sean Quinn (guitars), Cory Nichols (bass), and Raun Schultz (drums) have developed into one of the tightest and best bands in town - which in this town is saying a mouthful.

Josh Morris (who has co-produced both of Latham's albums) opened with a set from his band The Greenfields followed by Sean Quinn and the Tremblers.  Both those bands play very different versions of what I think of as power pop. Catchy tunes with depth and substance.

Those who braved the frigid temps were treated to a wonderful night of music.

Okay - time to dive into the recently expanded New Music playlist with our Trending Thursday Shuffle. There were a couple of longer songs so just six tracks in the shuffle today.

Wild Wednesday Morning Shuffle - When the Darkness Takes Control Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Hey ho!  It is the last day of my work week.  I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving or if you are outside the US I hope you have a great Thursday.

Since it is Thanksgiving time, I want to take second to say that I am extremely thankful for you - my constant reader, and I am thankful for all of the blessings that my obsession with all things music-related have brought into my life. I can truly say that the course of my life has been altered because I decided to start writing Ear to the Ground in May 2011. It is just about inconceivable for me to try to imagine my life without the people I have met directly or indirectly because of E2TG. So Thank You all!

Let's take this week out in style and get wild on a Wednesday!  Shuffling from the entire list of music on my phone.
