Moving on, we return to our "New Music" playlist for another "Trending Tuesday" shuffle at E2TG.
A whole lot going on in my life, in Nashville, and in the world. Although I have been known to use this pulpit to talk about things that are important to me (and I may do so again - probably will), I mostly want E2TG to be about the music. From day one, I knew that there were a lot of things that E2TG could never be - so I never tried. I have gone off on some tangents over the last eight years, but I keep returning to the simple truth of what E2TG is all about: "I heard some cool music this morning that you might or might not know - let me tell you about it."

Wild Wednesday Morning Shuffle - The Art of Drifting Mix

It's getting real and it's getting really close! The Magnolia Roads American Roots Hoedown IV is just a couple of days away. Make you plans. The 5 Spot in East Nashville is one of my favorite places in town, and it will be a great place to get away from all of madness going on around Nashville this weekend. You will find two nights of original music from 13 great acts, a silent auction, a great cause (The Ben Eyestone Fund of Music Health Alliance), a community canvas project, and much more. It all kicks off at 9:00pm on Friday April 26.
Now, for today's Wild Wednesday Shuffle - I decided to use our "Trending"/new music playlist - just to make some more room in that playlist - because we have so much great music. Plus, I was off work last Friday and I likely won't be doing a regular shuffle this Friday. Still, as I said last week, thanks to the awesome variety of music I have been receiving, our this shuffle is pretty darn "wild".

Trending Thursday Morning Shuffle - Another Way Mix

Any show that starts with a former E2TG Artist of the Year followed by the reigning E2TG Band of the Year - sure has something going for it. I ended up at The 5 Spot (I know! It's shocking!) for the late show last night. Darrin Bradbury kicked things off. It was one of his best solo sets (that I have seen). Many of his newest songs are emotionally powerful - continuing to walk that line of humor and brutal honestly (brutal but delivered with heart and charm). The Big Dumb were up next, and I continue to be blown away by this band. In my view they somehow manage to be a tight unit while still be incredibly loose. They are all multi-talented artists, and something magical happens when they come together. Chicago band Half Gringa were next. This was my first time seeing them, and I was very impressed. I really dug their set. Ryan Sobb closed the night with a full-band set. It was my first time seeing Sobb with a band, and it was great hearing his wonderful songs - fleshed out. It was a high energy rocking set of music.
Whew! We have to get going! It's Thursday - time to head back to the Trending playlist. Interestingly, this same playlist on Tuesday brought up a mix that was heavily weighted toward experimental and/or noisy music. Today, we get more roots, singer-songwriter type songs. It's all good. Let's go!

I wanted to mention a "Save the Dates" for an upcoming event at The 5 Spot that will feature some artists you've heard and heard about on E2TG. April 26 and 27th will be the 4th edition of the Magnolia Roads Hoedown, and E2TG is thrilled to have been asked to be a part of this great event - which will benefit the Ben Eyestone Fund at Musicians Health Alliance. More information to come - including some interviews with some of the featured artists (like we did last year).
In the meantime, we have another Trending Shuffle. A couple of first listens are included and some great tracks from albums we have been featuring of late.
