In the 10 year existence of E2TG, change has been the operative word. The blog and how I do it have undergone many changes - usually driven by some change in my circumstance or schedule etc. Now, with going out to hear music becoming a thing again, I am realizing that I made changes over the last 13-14 months that are going to be difficult to maintain in the emerging new reality. 

I don't know yet what changes will be needed, and it may not happen overnight and the changes may be incremental. It also may take a series of missteps to arrive something that works. Bear with me and thanks as always for reading.

46. "Paris" by Teresa Guidry

Nashville based singer-songwriter who was on Season 10 of The Voice with her first single of 2021.

47. "Hobo Stomp" by Razorhouse

Next up, we have the single from this alternative rock band from Chicago. A really cool song. 

48. "Through the Flames" by Empiires

Next up, we have some hard rock music from Texas. 

49. "Indigo Screams" by Pennies by the Pound

Next up, we have a Finnish band that combines psych rock with 80s college rock to great great sound. This is the lead track from their new album due out a week from tomorrow. 

50. "The Girl in the Barren Room" by Bad Dreams Fancy Dress

Next up, we have the new single from the forthcoming Bi Iconic album from this UK band that originally formed in the late 80s. Spurred on my a Facebook group set up by fans, this new incarnation of the band is doing some cool things. 

51. "Get Me Through It - Live" by The Purrs

Next up, we have a track from the new live album, We Thought There'd Be More People Here, by this dark psych pop band from the Pacific NW. 

52. "The Return" by To Twelve

Next up, we have lovely song about travelling from this duo from the Netherlands who spend time busking through Europe.  Really great stuff. 

53. "Occupied" by Dolly Ave

Next up, we have a track from the debut album, Sleep by this emerging Vietnamese-American singer-songwriter who grew up in Kansas City, Missouri before leaving for art school in Chicago. Really excited to have this song in our playlist. 

54. "Monster Tv" by Death Pop Radio

Next up, we have another debut album this from Chicago based hard pop/grunge band. 

55. "Silent Trees" by Pentral 

And we close with a track from What Lies Ahead of Us from Brazilian prog rock/metal band Pentral who worked producer Tim Palmer on this new album. A great way to close out this segment of music, and the playlist for this week.

On a warm, overcast  Wednesday morning - fresh off another night out that reminded me again of the amazing live music scene in Nashville (amazing in the sense of the amount of talent and the number of options any given night).  We take a break from our focus on "new music" for a always fun - Wild Wednesday shuffle that includes an eclectic mix of new and not-so-new music from a variety of sources.

Nice chilly morning this morning, and now the sun is out, and it is still a little chilly. Fall is my favorite season of the year. I just wish it lasted longer.  Lately, we seem to go from Summer to Winter - but I'm going to enjoy Fall while I can.

Well it is Thursday, and that means, we dive back into the "New Music" playlist. We have a couple of second listens and one first listen, plus some old favorites. Let's just do it!

"If I can just get though this work week, without getting killed or caught..."  (with apologies to Guy Clark.)

Last night, a great night of music at The 5 Spot.  I saw Mike Cullison and his relatively new band The Lucky Dogs. Mike is a great songwriter - we have featured his music here at E2TG. The Lucky Dogs are a great band featuring Michael Ross, Bobby Kent, and more. Great selection of covers and original tunes - including a few written with Mark Robinson. 

After that, I hung around for part of the 2nd ever Pizza Collective showcase. The Pizza Collective is a group of songwriters who meet once a week, eat pizza, and bring in a new song to play for the group. I loved what I heard, and wish I could have stuck around for the rest, but I was way too tired.  Did get to see J.R. Wyatt, Becca Richardson, a great cello player named Zan Berry.  I look forward to catching more of their shows.

I need to tell you about an event coming up Saturday - also at The 5 Spot.  After The Fats Kaplin Gang, stick around for Spoons of Diamond.  It is a tribute to Neil Diamond - feat. the one and only Black Diamond (Nashville's own Neil Diamond impersonator). More importantly, this is a fundraiser - organized by Jason - an employee of The 5 Spot.  I'll let him tell you about it:

"Neil Diamond was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease this year.
Liftware.com is a company that has developed “smart spoons”
that allow people with Parkinson's Disease, Cerebral Palsy and, many other disabilities, the independence of feeding themselves with more confidence.
These spoons, with accessories, cost around $300-$350, depending on the particular disability and, spoon handle needed. They're not covered by Medicare, Medicaid or, majority of private insurance. 
The funds raised will be used to purchase more of these “smart spoons.”
If this device will improve your quality of life, you should have one, no matter your ability to afford one. As someone with Cerebral Palsy, I know firsthand that life with a disability comes with added struggles and, expenses. Also, as a guy who is so completely comfortable with having CP that I go by the nickname of “Shakes,” I can say that the first time to use this spoon was a life changing moment. I can't imagine how it would affect someone who isn't as comfortable with their own disability! Therefore, I find people who would benefit from this technology and,
simply give them one, with accessories.
After all, there's already enough “red tape” and “hoops to jump through” in today's world...and, who doesn't enjoy a nice bowl of soup?

Shakes gave my daughter, whose diagnoses includes CP, one of the "smart spoons".   This should be a great night for a great cause.

Hey! Someone encouraged me to create an E2TG Playlist on Spotify.  I was going to do one for the first six months of 2018 but that was going to be too long a playlist - so I created one for artists/albums featured in January 2018.  These are not all January releases  (some were released earlier and some later) but all were featured on E2TG during that month. I am planning to create playlists for every month - once I catch up, I will create the playlist right after a month ends.

Anyway, if this is something you'd like to check-out, you can do it HERE. I may just expand this playlist or eventually, I may have a current E2TG playlist and periodically update it. We'll see. Stay tuned.
