Wow! May is sure flying by, and I still have some wrap-up to do for April - ah well, when I can, when I can... I have a nifty selection of songs today, so let's get to it.

1. "If You Would Love Me, Too" by Prattle On, Rick (A Nashville artist who I "discovered" via Twitter. Really digging this guy and wondering why it's taken me so long to catch up with him. The video in our Playlist is for another song of his - as are several of the songs today).
2. "I Am" by Sealight (Our friends from across the pond are back with a new song - a follow up to their Dead Letters EP which I reviewed some time back in my very first Ear to the Ground record review! I Am can be found on a Sampler put out by the band's French Label, Commission 45.
3."Stealing Romance" by Milk Carton Kids 4."Without You" by Natalie Maines 5. "Failing Love (acoustic)" by Seth Philpott The Milk Carton Kids and Seth Philpott tracks were grabbed from Noisetrade. Some may say, I take way too much pride in presenting morning shuffles that span such a diverse landscape of musical marvels. Some may say I would be far more successful if I focused on one genre or only wrote about those certain "buzz worthy" artists that you can read about in all of the other music blogs. Some may say, I should stick to the script and just echo back the language of the music promoters and publicists.
I don't bother responding except to offer up today's pre-shuffle and shuffle.

A rare cooler day, but alas temperatures will be rising soon enough. We got a stunning potpourri of songs this a.m. so sit back and take it all in....
First up is a song from an unfortunately defunct Indie Pop band from here in Nashville. Popular Genius played extremely listenable, intelligent music. Apologize comes from the band's 2003 album, How to Be Popular.
A while back we presented a song from the Brooklyn Band EndAnd (who should in no way be mistaken for our friends (also from Brooklyn) The End Men. EndAnd are a hard rocking Alternative band. They have an album called Adventures of Fi in Space which came out this past December. The song today is called Labor Force.
We've been hitting up Justin Townes Earle's album Nothing's Gonna Change the Way You Feel About Me Now pretty hard. It's another excellent record by the Americana giant. Justin Townes Earle will be part of the Mumford and Sons cavalcade (my term) which will hit a few cities this summer (including a stop on the Tennessee/Virginia border). The song today is called Won't Be the Last Time.
And finally, we got a track from the Pure album by Nashville supergroup, The Bluefields. Warner, Dan and Joe Lay it on the Line right here!

First up is a Detroit band from the early part of this century. Ko and the Knockouts were signed to the Sympathy Record label and our track today, Black and Blue, actually comes from the compilation The Sympathetic Sounds Of Detroit which also featured a band called The White Stripes. Ko Melina is now a member of The Dirtbombs and she is also a DJ on Little Steven's Sirius XM Channel, Underground Garage. Black and Blue rocks pretty damn hard... Next up with a Brooklyn band called EndAnd. The album is called Adventures of Fi in Space, and the song is Far in Between.
Next we have an acoustic version of We Can Make it Hereby James McMurtry which was on his 2005 album Childish Things. A new version with Joan Baez and Steve Earle is out on a new 5 CD release called Occupy This Album which we have linked below.
And finally, we have Peter Case covering Charlie Poole's 1926 classic Leavin Home which comes from his landmark 2001 album Thank You St. Jude.
