Wednesday is the tipping point, it is now socially acceptable to start looking forward to the end of the work week. As a bonus, we have a three day weekend coming up, AND we are into the final three days of the month. September is looking to be a very busy month for E2TG so buckle up. 

If you have been paying attention around here, you know Wednesday is the day we get "wild".  Our Wednesday shuffles come not from one specific playlist but from all of the songs currently saved to my phone.  This usually creates an interesting mix of old and new songs - where E2TG favorites exist alongside some of the many legendary figures. You may hear some of the music we are currently featuring, but you are just as likely to hear music we previously featured or classic tunes from my personal collection.  

Enough talk, let's shuffle!

Before you ask, I did not watch the presidential address last night...  Let me ask... Did he say that he was going to remove white supremacists from his administration?  Did he say he had made a mistake in appointing an Attorney General with an abysmal civil rights record? Did he promise a full, independent investigation into Russia's tampering with the election and his campaign staff's communication with that country?  Did he reveal a healthcare plan that covers all Americans?  Did he denounce the recent racially and ethnically motivated violence and vandalism that are being carried out by people who believe they are acting on his behalf?    What's that... no?  Then, I am really not interested in what ever b.s. he spouted.

Hey - shameless self-promotion time.  I am working to release a LONG, LONG overdue novel - sometime this year, and I just recorded a very short Intro - from the beginning of the novel.  Here it is.  More to come about The Drift...




Well - after a couple of nights staying in to work, my week of live music begins tonight.  Earie Award Winner (2015) D.L. Duncan begins his residency at The 5 Spot - early show.  Later, a bunch of my favorite songwriters (lots of Earie winners included) will be at The Country for a round.

Tomorrow night, I am so thrilled to be seeing John Doe at The Basement, and even more thrilled that 2015 Artist of the Year and 2016 Earie winner - Jon Latham will be opening the show!

Okay - how many #E2TG readers watched the Grammys last night?  What did you think? Were there parts you liked? Was it all utter crap? How well did it represent the state of music from October 2012 - September 2013?  Seriously? Really? Was it worst than you could imagine or better than you expected?

So here's the thing, for as long as I can remember, The Grammy's have been completely out of touch with the music I like. Or at least a decade too late. That being said, there were a few parts of last nights broadcast that were okay.

Here's the thing, regardless of your opinion of the Grammys, the fact is that every night of the week in clubs and small venues all across the country, indie artists are creating memorable moments playing a huge variety of music. Many of these bands and artists do not get the hype or press that your Grammy "caliber" performers get. Nonetheless, they aren't that hard to find. Take the time, seek them out, and regularly read music blogs like Ear to the Ground (or just read Ear to the Ground if I may ever so humbly suggest.)


Anyway, we have a shuffle filled with interest music that you may or may not have heard about.  Check these artists out and see what appeals to you...

It's mid-week.  Nashville is still digging out from our massive 1/2 snowfall yesterday morning (which by the way was mostly melted by noon yesterday)  (note for non-Nashville readers: Nashville really freaks out over winter weather).  Anyway, it was a frosty morning, and we have a great mix of songs to warm your hearts and minds and... I don't really know what I'm saying at this point, but I'm trying to use words that sound like they belong in the introduction to a blog post. Whew!

It's that time of year... everyone is releasing they best of 2013 lists.  Here at #E2TG, we will kick off our Best of 2013 posts Monday morning.  Of course, we will be doing it in a manner befitting Ear to the Ground... stay tuned.   By the way, for the first time since this blog began, we will not be having a Band of the Year Readers Poll.  More on the reasoning behind this later.  However, we will be unveiling our 3rd Annual Band of the Year in a special post later this month.  Tune in!
