E2TG 4/1/2021 - No Fooling - Marshmallow Mix (Sea Glass Remix)

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

No fooling, I appreciated everyone who has read and supported E2TG over the last (almost) ten years. This silly little music blog has changed my life and introduced me to so much great music and so many great friends.  #ThanksNotPranks

Today we wrap up this Featured Friday Playlist and prepare the way for a new list tomorrow/tonight around midnight.  Now, songs 30-36...

30. "Someone" by Cory Singer
We start off with a recent single from this singer-songwriter, actor, and social influencer who sings and writes about his struggles with Asperger's Syndrome. He has become an advocate and inspiration.
31. "The Place Where I Belong (Acoustic)" by John McDonough
Next up, we have a track from veteran Austin singer-songwriter John McDonough - it is an acoustic version of his ode to John Denver.
32. "Eden Gaol" by The Miller Test
Next, next up, we have a track from the forthcoming album Dead Blue by this London based band. Really cool music. I dig.
33. "For My Animals" by American Culture
Next up, we have the title track from the new album by Denver DIY-basement-core band American Culture. I really love their sound. Wickedly cool stuff.
34. "Cut it Off" by The Last Element
Next up, we have some high-energy hard rock music from this Dutch band. I like this a lot.
35. "Hetzer" by Soziales Hetzwerk
Next up, we have some punk rock music from Germany via Jim Schatzmann and his project Soziales Hetzwerk. Awesome track.
36. "Guns Don't Cry" by Storm Seeker
And we stay in Germany with some pirate folk-metal music - and the title track from the new album by Storm Seeker.  As you know, I love a good pirate song any day.  A great tune to close out this week's Playlist.

E2TG 2/16/2021 - Ice and Snow and Life - Long Time Gone Mix (Liverwurst Remix)

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

I have always tended to like snow and icy weather. When I was a kid, it meant we were out of school and I loved playing in the snow. I guess, overall, I still do like snow- at least in theory and at least when I can stay warm inside and watch it... but I really don't like the cold or the inconvenience of it all - places closed, roads dangerous, people dangerous.  But, lately, here in Nashville, we don't get much snow, so it is kind of exciting - at least at first.

This particular winter weather event is, I guess, a little more annoying that usual. This is supposed to be my week to "get on with life" and the snow and ice makes it feel like I am being hampered from getting on with life...

Featured Friday Playlist (Songs 12-15)

12. "Better Days" by Jennifer Tefft
The new single from this singer-songwriter based in New England. Tefft is a cancer survivor who underwent an unexpected divorce and was just emerging into a new life of teaching music and touring around New England when the pandemic hit. This beautiful song is her response and it offers hope to many of us who have faced our own versions of her story.
13. "Waiting on You Tonight" by Beth Lee
The debut solo album from this Austin, Texas based singer-songwriter who has released albums previously with Beth Lee & the Breakups.  This album was recorded in the East Bay area of California. Wonderful stuff.
14. "Stars" by Brian Falduto
Next up, we have a recent single from NYC based queer country singer-songwriter Brian Falduto. A great introduction to this artist.
15. "WFTWTE" by Arrlo
We close out this segment of music with a recent single from this Riverside, CA indie band which is fronted by transgender male singer-songwriter Sunni Suede. An awesome song and a great way to close out this part of the playlist.

E2TG 2/5/2020 - Music City USA - Another Engine Mix (Sideshow Remix)

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

I hoped to be making my big announcement on this blog post, but I am still waiting for the official okay...

Ever since, 2014 or so, when I started really connecting with the local music community, I have been interested in making connections between the Nashville music I came of age (musically) listening to and the music being made today (and everything in between - including stuff I missed).  I didn't know what context I wanted to do this (or rather I had several ideas).

Nashville is called Music City. The term was used by WSM-AM announcer David Cobb (I don't know if he is any relation to Dave Cobb - super-producer) in a 1950 broadcast and caught on, but the idea of Nashville being a "musical city" can be credited to none other than Queen Victoria - who made that pronouncement upon hearing a performance by the Fisk Jubilee Singers in 1873.

If you read E2TG with any regularity, you know how enamored I am with the live music scene here in Nashville, and you probably have caught one of my "Music City Monday" shuffles which tries to highlight the musical diversity of the city.

I have a new project coming very soon, which I will be announcing as soon as I get the green light.  In the meantime, I need to state publicly that E2TG will always be a place to highlight music from all over regardless of genre (and with an emphasis on artists who may not get the attention from other music sites).

Now, we have a nifty mid-week shuffle, so check it out below.  Plus, the current Featured Friday Playlist and our Release calendar down below.

E2TG 2019 Recap - Part 7 - Potholes Mix (Murder of Crows Remix)

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Back at it today.  I am sad to report that my father passed away over the weekend, and that has kept me away for a few days.

As always, music is a great solace. We likely won't get through the whole #2019Faves playlist before the end of the year, but you know what - there is no rule that says a end of the year recap needs to be complete before the end of the year.  So, we will just move forward and see where things take us.

Trending Tuesday Morning Shuffle - Which One Am I? Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

On we go.  As you know, if you read E2TG on any sort of regular basis, I make a concerted effort not to be a (fill in the blank) music blog.  While, I frequently feature singer-songwriter/folk/Americana style music - I regularly cover about every kind of genre imaginable and few you might not have imagined. My rule is if I like it, I write about, and I have a diverse pallet of music I like.

Anyway, I think this Trending Tuesday shuffle is bear that out.

Featured Friday Morning Shuffle - If We Try Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Back at it for one last day.  Contemplating the Revolutionary War era airports and whether or not it is appropriate to celebrate a democracy that seems to be on the verge of becoming a dictatorship.

Looking forward to some cool music tonight.  A couple of Kerrville New Folk Award winners Justin Farren and Aaron Smith will be a Tennessee Brew Works early and then Jeremy Ivey, Darrin Bradbury, and Matthew Paige will be at The Basement later.

Then, on to the weekend!

Trending Thursday Morning Shuffle - Blackpool Pier Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Last night's CD Release show for Meghan Hayes - Seen Enough Leavers was a real celebration.  Things started out with short sets from some amazing local writers:  Megan Palmer, Fawn Larson, Kira Small, Meg Braun, and Kristen Englenz.  Followed by Meghan Hayes - who was backed by an incredible band - featuring Megan Palmer, Annie McCue, Justin Amaral, and Cameron Carrus.  She was joined on a song each by Mando Saenz and Tim Carroll.

The music was wonderful, and the joyful spirit - celebrating an album that is one of my favorite of the year so far.

By the way, I realized after posting, that yesterday marked the 8th anniversary of the start of E2TG. I remain humbled and overwhelmed by the incredible friends I have made along this journey and the wonderful music that I probably would never have heard if I had not started this blog.

Now, it's time to move back into the our new music playlist and today's "Trending Thursday" shuffle!

All right, as I mentioned yesterday - time going to be short this week - so no chit-chat - let's get to the music!
