E2TG 2019 Recap - Part 7 - Potholes Mix (Murder of Crows Remix)

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Back at it today.  I am sad to report that my father passed away over the weekend, and that has kept me away for a few days.

As always, music is a great solace. We likely won't get through the whole #2019Faves playlist before the end of the year, but you know what - there is no rule that says a end of the year recap needs to be complete before the end of the year.  So, we will just move forward and see where things take us.

"A Murder of Crows" by The Membranes (from What Nature Gives... Nature Takes Away)

"Potholes" by Meghan Hayes (from Seen Enough Leavers)

Without a single doubt, one of my favorite albums of the year.  If I made lists, this would be up near the top.  An album made to help deal with a difficult situation, Seen Enough Leavers delivers with amazing songs, powerful house players, and excellent production (by Dex Green).  This is hard subject matter but a triumphant proof of life.  Side note:  little known fact, Meghan is not pronounced like Megan (as in Palmer).  "M-e" is pronounced just like the word "me".  The "g-h" is silent, and the "a-n" is pronounced like "Ow".  So, Meghan is pronounced like the sound a cat makes. "Meow".  :-)

"Valley of the Bones" by Jane Kramer (from Valley of the Bones)

Like Meghan's album, Valley of the Bones came to be via the incomparable Adam Dawson - who is pitching a perfect game for 2019. Jane Kramer - based in Asheville  - has made a beautiful album. The title track blew me away.

"Ready to Connect" by Sluka (from Ready to Connect)

"Old East River Road" by Andy Statman (from Monroe Bus)

"Ballad in C#" by The Lilliston Effect (from The Funky Turducken)

Glad to connect with The Lilliston Effect toward the end of this year.  If you are looking for a wonderful jazz album - check out THe Funky Turducken.  If you want some live jazz in your life - check out the band playing around town.

"The Meaning of Life" by Rusty Reid (from Head to Heart)

"Educated Guesses" by Justin Peter Kinkel-Schuster (from Take Heart, Take Care)

"Breathe" by Slowness (from Berths)
