It seems like a good time to check-in... yep, it is June 5, 2017, and there are still white supremacists in positions of power in the White House.

Had a good time celebrating the 1st Anniversary of WXNA yesterday. As someone who come of age musically speaking with college radio (WRVU in particular), I have to say, WXNA has filled huge gap in the Nashville radio landscape. There is great original programming every single day, all day long, and I am so happy to be a part of it.
TONIGHT! Yes, the Predator's are in the Stanley Cup Finals, and Nashville is abuzz. Game 4 is tonight, but I am going to recommend you get yourself to The Basement East for the Jon Latham Benefit tonight. Not only is it a great cause for a great guy, the music is going to be incredible. Jon's ace band will be the house band with an incredible lineup of guest singers. You can check in on the game on your phone as you need to...
Okay, I was off last Monday, so this is our first Music City Monday in a couple of weeks... so let's do this thing!

Wednesday Morning Music Shuffle - Devil's Toolbox Mix
Tweet #E2TG
Good morning from cold and wet Nashville where we currently have flurries flying around (or as we call it, a blizzard). Hope everyone had a lovely December 25th.
Band of the Year voting took off over the long weekend. We currently stand at over 1,400 votes counted and The Disappointment holds about a 150 vote lead over second place Skeletons in the Piano. Still time to vote (voting officially ends at 11:59:59 p.m. on Sunday December 30. Any votes received after the cutoff will not be counted. Vote here!

Friday Morning Music Shuffle - PB&J Mix
It's Friday - smile!
Um or um - not sure what to say. I've found some words, and will be writing about the In-Store performance I saw yesterday...so stay tuned.
Today we have a quirkily awesome mix of music so let's get to it...
First up we have transplanted Nashvillian Eef Barzelay's band Clem Snide post-reunion effort The Ghost of Fashion (2010) and a track called Joan Jett of Arc which name drops Hall and Oates, John Mellencamp's Pink Houses and others to great effect and humor.
Next we have a track from the solo debut album, Resolutions by Dave Hause who has been a member of several Philadelphia-based bands over the years. We have the excellent lead track of the album, Time Will Tell is a raw and starkly, beautiful song.
Next up we have a cover, and it's a good one. Mitch Easter the producer was responsible for tons of my favorite music way back in my youth - R.E.M., his own band Let's Active, yesterday's Connells album we featured, Marshall Crenshaw, Pylon, Suzanne Vega, Game Theory ... deep breath. Here we have Mitch Easter the performer from the fairly recent Velvet Underground tribute CD American Velvet. His cover of The Black Angel's Death Song which was on the Velvet's first album The Velvet Underground and Nico. Easter's gentle Carolina twang adds a note of Southern Gothic charm to the dark and dissonant song.
Lou Reed John Cale and Nico Reuniting in 1972
(Couldn't find a video of Mitch Easter's version - so here's Beck's cover)

Catch me up!
Been away... took a bit of a vacation from the 'net. Work, work, and some play. Had a good visit with an old friend, took to the woods with my camera, and spent some time behind bars.... all in all, a nice trip, but it is so good to be home...
We shall return to our normally scheduled blogging, but in case you've forgotten all about me while I've been away, I offer up a gentle reminder:
A brand new track from one of our early Bands of the Week: Stomacher from their forthcoming album, Clara.
Crime and the City Solution (Wim Wenders, Wings of Desire)
Clem Snide - Nick Drake Tape
The Unforgiven - Hang 'em High
