I find myself rushed again... so, let's get to this:
1. Jonquil Child by Tiffany Huggins Grant which we have been featuring songs off of for a few weeks has been released. Check it out HERE. I recommend it highly.
2. There is a great FREE SHOW in downtown Nashville today on 5th between Demonbreun and Korean Veterans. It is the CD Release show for the companion album to the Dylan, Cash, and the Nashville Cats exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Lots of cool folks including some of the players from the original classic recordings. Did I mention it is free? Details: HERE. Gates at 5:00, Music starts at 6:00
3. Later on tonight, Two Cow Garage are playing at the Hi Watt with Heathen Sons and Benchmarks. Benchmarks is the new moniker for Todd Farrell and the Dirty Birds. Should be a great show.

Friday Morning Music Shuffle - Illustrious Illusions Mix

'Tis a rainy Friday in Nashville, Tennessee. Fortunately, the rain let up for my daily walk up the hill to higher ground. Even more fortunate, I got to listen to some killer tunes, and as always, I want to share them with you.
Pre-shuffle:
"Please" by The Vespers (awesome Nashville band who will be playing May 25th at the Eastside Hootenanny. Those Darlins will also be on the bill that day because this is Nashville and that's just how we roll)
"Hello It's Me" by Todd Rundgren (The classic song from 1972)
" Singing Sunrise" by JENNY (who have a new album, Love and Politics out now)
"Hail Hail" by Shovels and Rope (the awesome South Carolina band from a Noisetrade tour sampler for their summer jaunt with the equally awesome Dawes - who we will hear from later in the mix)
"Rewind" by Kopecky Family Band (more good stuff from the Nashville band who were recently featured in the NY Times)

Friday Morning Music Shuffle - Lazy Daze Mix
I know, I know - I am so far behind on lots of stuff. But here is our first and only true Music Shuffle for the week - taken from our final list of April 2012 additions.
1. The brand new single from Those Mockingbirds is called The Difference Between Love & Addiction. Do you know the difference? Here is the band performing the song at the Knitting Factory last year. You can get the song here.
2. At 77 years of age, Leonard Cohen has made an album can hold its own alongside his extremely impressive body of work. Old Ideas finds the man with the gift of the golden voice, sounding a bit like Tom Waits. Lullaby is simply a beautiful song.

3. Bird Dog are a Brooklyn based band. Underneath the Overpass is from the band's January 2011 EP. You can grab the EP over at Bandcamp using the widget below.

4. Flower Flower is another fine song from Nashville's own, The Vespers. It is from the bands brand new The Fourth Wall album.
5. And finally, 20 Million Things is from the 1979 album, Thanks I'll Eat it Here by Little Feat founder, Lowell George. For a 33 year old song, it does not sound dated at all. Lowell George died shortly after the album was released while on tour in support of the album.

Wednesday Morning Music Shuffle - Savoir-Faire Mix
Welcome to my world... or at least to my little dark corner of the internet. It's mid-week. Tomorrow night, I'm going to an adult's only "play date" at the local science museum. The evening has a Zombie theme, and we get to try out all of the exhibits. Should be fun...
We got four songs up today on the Shuffle, so let's get to it:
1. Wasting My Time is a track from the self-titled EP from Francis Bowie. Francis Bowie is a visual artist and musician from Denmark. He makes what he calls Intelligent Pop Music. Today's track is pristine electronic pop.

2. Ah yes, we have another track from our Compilation have I mentioned our Compilation? Well, we have a Compilation! Compilation!
Oh and this is a good one. The Dead Exs are a New York band, they were Band of the Week back in December, and they play awesomely dirty blues-inspired rock and roll. The track is More Stuff!
3. Better Now is the lead track off the new Fourth Wall album by Nashville-based, The Vespers. They are a folk-pop band which combine beautiful voices with gentle acoustic music which is not lacking in energy and passion.
4. And finally - Rattlesnake is a cool track from Raleigh, North Carolina Alt-Country/Rock band American Aquarium. The song is on the band's 2010 album Small Town Hymns.
Great set of songs with some bands we are just getting familiar with plus our old friend's The Dead Exs.
