Whew! I made it to the end of an extremely busy week!
I added a bunch of new music to the playlist last night.
We have several first listens today. Let's send off this week on a happy note!
"I Can't Find a Place That Feels Like Home" by The Campfire Flies
Hey - for the second day in a row, we have a track from New Jersey supergroup The Campfire Flies and their album Sparks Like Little Stars. As the band name implies, this music sounds like songs you might hear around a campfire (assuming some very talented folks were making music around said campfire). This is a great song!
"Love and Pain" by Grant Farm
Next up, we have our first listen to the forthcoming album (Broke in Two - June 14) from Boulder, Colorado base Grant Farm. Grant Farm formed in 2010. This album is a follow-up to their 2016 album Kiss the Groumd. This album is a continuation of the storyline and characters from the previous album.
"Statman Romp" by Andy Statman
Next up, we have a fast paced bluegrass song from Andy Statman's new album Monroe Bus - which is a tribute to bluegrass legemd Bill Monroe.
"Let It Sing" by The Truehearts
Next we have our first listen to the forthcoming album Songs for Spike (June 21) by Nashville's own The Truehearts. The Truehearts are already E2TG favorites, but unbelievably this is their first even appearance on E2TG. The came to Nashville by way of the Washington D.C. area - where the were known as The Hummingbyrds. I have been so excited to hear and write about this new album, so expect more words to come. Their CD release show is scheduled for June 22 at The 5 Spot with The Coalmen (Dave Coleman co-produced the album with The Truehearts).
"Angst Reflex" by Neutrals
Next up, we have some cool new jangle post punk from the Bay Area via Neutrals and their forthcoming debut album Kabab Disco. Really digging the sound of this album, and I look forward to bringing you more.
"The Moon Drips" by Noctorum
Next up, we have our final track to feature from the album The Afterlife by Noctorum - the band that features Marty Willson-Piper (The Church).
"Break My Heart Tomorrow" by Daphne Lee Martin and Raise the Rent
Next up, we have an emotionally powerful song from Connecticut singer-songwriter Daphne Lee Martin and her band Raise the Rent - from her latest album Scared Fearless. I love the way Martin combines New England folk with some gritty southern influences.
"The 21st Century is Killing Me" by The Membranes
What Nature Gives... Nature Takes Away by UK post punk legends - The Membranes is not due out until June 7, but we are making our way through the album post-haste. This may be my favorite track so far.
"Treasure the Sea" by Tom Mason and the Blue Buccaneers
We close with some sound advice from East Nashville's favorite pirate band - Tom Mason and the Blue Buccaneers. This is from their children's album If You Want to Be a Pirate: Songs for Young Buccaneers, but it is a lesson we all need to learn (to treasure the wonderful natural resource that is the sea). Look for Tom Mason and crew at a pirate or tall ship festival near you - or at a music venue or library or really anywhere that will let a crusty group of scalawags play music.
