Well, I ventured out to live music for the second time last night and saw a lot of familiar faces that I had not seen in some time. It was amazing even as we are all still feeling our way through the new normal.  

But, with that new normal - today I have returned to my office after 14 months or so of working from home. Short shuffle today - because I forgot my headphones...  it's hard to remember all the things that used to be a daily routine.

Latest single from this Seattle indie/dream/synth pop band - from their forthcoming new album due out May 14.

32. "It's Your World ('Til it's Over)" by Gerald Slevin

New single from the singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Ithaca, New York. 

33. "Sing with Her" by Lorraine Nash

Next up, the latest single from this Irish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.  

34. "Racked" by Tommy Cash

Next up, the latest single from this multi-disciplinary and multi-genre artist from Estonia who recently announced a world tour starting in San Francisco in early 2022.

35. "What's The Matter" by MILO

Next up, we have the follow-up single to the debut album by this band from the Netherlands. Bright Flowers of Indigo was released back in November. 

36. "Bitter" by Calling Apollo

The onslaught of great Welsh bands continues with the latest single from this band from Cardiff. 

37. "Marrakush" by Electric Kif

Next, we have the first single from the forthcoming Dreamlike album by this instrumental band from Miami. 

38. "The Opposite" by Dan Rose 

And we close with a track by this Danish indie solo artist who draws on the inspiration and advise of George Costanza for the latest single which closes out this segment of music.

Today is Veteran's Day - a time to pause and remember those who served our nation in the military. 

I have the day off work. In the past, I have taken a day off from blogging when I am off work, but I am choosing today to press on. 

Our Featured Friday Playlist recap rolls on with songs 22-26:

22. "Medicine" by The Sea at Midnight

Starting things off we have LA based postpunk band The Sea at Midnight with a track from the  debut self-titled album. Really great stuff that reminds of a lot of great bands I love. 

23. "Dosed" by Arran Sym

Coincidentally, we follow up a song called "Medicine" with a song called "Dosed".  This is a track from the another debut - this time the EP 1000 Micrograms of Love via Scottish producer and artist Arran Sym.  Really digging this. 

24. "Illinois by Numbers" by Moral Mazes

Next up, we have a great new track from Moral Mazes - which features members of Jawbox, The Bomb, Airstream Futures,  and more.  This is from a recently released 7".

25. "White and Black Angels" by Monsieur Minimal

This is our third time (unless I lost count) featuring Greek artist Monsieur Minimal - we had previously featured the track Easteria - which is the title track from his new album.  

26. "The Distances" by Cosmopolis

There has definitely been a mood and feel to this segment of music, and this new single from global band Cosmopolis is a great way to close it out. The band's members are from UK, Belgium, and Australia.

I hoped to be making my big announcement on this blog post, but I am still waiting for the official okay...

Ever since, 2014 or so, when I started really connecting with the local music community, I have been interested in making connections between the Nashville music I came of age (musically) listening to and the music being made today (and everything in between - including stuff I missed).  I didn't know what context I wanted to do this (or rather I had several ideas).

Nashville is called Music City. The term was used by WSM-AM announcer David Cobb (I don't know if he is any relation to Dave Cobb - super-producer) in a 1950 broadcast and caught on, but the idea of Nashville being a "musical city" can be credited to none other than Queen Victoria - who made that pronouncement upon hearing a performance by the Fisk Jubilee Singers in 1873.

If you read E2TG with any regularity, you know how enamored I am with the live music scene here in Nashville, and you probably have caught one of my "Music City Monday" shuffles which tries to highlight the musical diversity of the city.

I have a new project coming very soon, which I will be announcing as soon as I get the green light.  In the meantime, I need to state publicly that E2TG will always be a place to highlight music from all over regardless of genre (and with an emphasis on artists who may not get the attention from other music sites).
