I'd like to take this opportunity to remind you of the on-going on-line silent auction being conducted in conjunction with the Magnolia Roads American Roots Hoedown IV - coming this weekend. The auction ends Saturday and the winners will be announced just before the final act - Lady Couch - takes the stage. You do not need to be present to win, but if you around Nashville - please consider coming out. All proceeds from the auction are going to the Ben Eyestone Fund of the Music Health Alliance. A vital organization that helps provide lifesaving medical assistance to working musicians.
Elizabeth Cook, Jason Isbell, John Prine, The Grateful Dead, Wilco and more have all donated items which you can bid on now. Just visit the website to see the items and BID.
Now, let's get to the Trending Tuesday shuffle. I added more music to the playlist last night - which meant making some surgical cuts to keep the list at 500 (my self-imposed limit). Anyway, let's get right to the shuffle!
"Big Life" by Tim Cheesebrow
First up, we have a first listen to The Well Traveled Unknown by Minnesota based singer-songwriter Tim Cheesebrow. This is his sixth studio album, and this was my true first listen, and I'm digging what I'm hearing so far. I like this song a lot.
"Mississippi Magic" by Eric Brace, Peter Cooper, and Thomm Jutz
Next up, we have what is likely the centerpiece of the amazing album Riverland. It is also the album's only cover. The track starts with the voice and words of the songwriter - Reverend Will Campbell - the Mississippi based pastor, writer, activist, and lecturer - who spent in his later years living just outside of Nashville. The song captures Campbell complex relationship with his home state, and his "radical" belief in loving all people. This is a powerful song - beautifully rendered here, and much needed in this troubled times.
"Tidal Wave" by From Carbon
Next up, we have another great track from Manchester (UK) based Indie/Alternative band From Carbon. Really digging this album.
"Breathing" by SPC ECO
Next up, we have another track from Fifteen by the UK band SPC ECO. The band consists of two primary members Dean Garcia and Rose Berlin - who are joined by a large, rotating cast of characters. I am loving the chance to get to know this band and their great music.
"Widow's Waltz" by Creature and the Woods
Next up, we have our first listen and the lead off track from J Tree - the new four-song EP from San Diego based band Creature and the Woods. This wonderful song about death and mourning and more. It is about band leader Roger Molina's late father.
"Mississippi Line" by Daniel Seymour and Mark Robinson
We return to Mississippi with another track from the fabulous and fun Chug it Down and Go. Seymour and Robinson will be playing live this weekend at Dee's.
"Shine On" by Steve Poltz
Next up, we have the title track and the first of two tracks today from the latest album by singer-songwriter Steve Poltz. The album was produced by Will Kimbrough. Poltz is a great songwriter and an electrifying live performer.
"Levy Girl" by Shane Dwight
Next up, we have yet another first listen - this time from Nashville-based blues artist Shane Dwight from his brand new album No One Loves Me Better. This one was just added to my playlist, and I am really loving it.
"Windows of Halifax" by Steve Poltz
And close with another track from Shine On! by Steve Poltz. As I have mentioned, Poltz is perhaps best known for his early collaborations with singer Jewel. Shine On is a favorite album of 2019 so far.
