Trending Thursday Morning Shuffle - Must Be Crazy Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Moving onward.  We move back into our "Trending" playlist for the last two days of this week.  A ton of music to get to - so let's do it!

"The Girl With Raven Hair" by Mark Mathews

We start things off with our second listen to Fizzy Beasts by UK singer-songwriter Mark Mathews. The album is set for release tomorrow.  We previously featured the song, "Down Under Girl".  In searching for the video for this song (which isn't available yet) I came across a rockabilly song with this same title.  I didn't have a chance to determine if this was a cover. Anyway, I dig this music.

"Rainy Day Women #42" by Daphne Lee Martin and Raise the Rent

Next up, we have another track from the awesome Scared Fearless album by Connecticut singer-songwriter (and much more) Daphne Lee Martin.  While Dylan's #13 and #35 does mention "Rainy Day Women" - this song does.

"Must Be Crazy" by Tito Montana feat. Dave East

Next up, we have a second listen to Why Not Me? 2.0 by New York hip hop artist Tito Montana.  This track renowned features Harlem rapper Dave East and a sample of the late comedian Dick Gregory.  This track features some hard hitting wordplay and some important messages.

"Milkcow Blues" by Bert Deivert and Copperhead Run

Switching gears somewhat spectacularly, we have another killer track from Blood in My Eyes for You by blues mandolin player Bert Deivert and his great backing band from Sweden.  This is a cover of the blues standard - written by Kokomo Arnold and originally recorded in 1934.

"One Moment in Time" by Hafdis Huld

Next up, we have another from Variations by Icelandic artist Hafdis Huld. This time she takes on the number one hit single recorded by Whitney Houston and written  by Albert Hammond and John Bettis which was used for opening ceremonies of the 1988 Summer Olympic Games.

"Alilless" by Auld

Next, more "Mainstream Music" from London based Auld.  Really digging this album.

"Whatever I Want to Be" by Planefields

We return to Sweden with our first listen to Where the Lights Will Stay by Planefields. This one came to me as a direct submission from an artist. Digging this music.

"Feels Like Love" by Jeff Mamett

Next we, have another track from real country singer-songwriter Jeff Mammett from his album carrying me back.

"Go Back to Your Heart" by The Campfire Flies

We close things out with a first listen to the debut album by a New Jersey sextet featuring some great writers and performers.  E2TG readers may recognize Deena Shoshkes and Jon Fried (The Cucumbers) from when we covered Deena's solo album. The band also features John and Toni Baumgartner and Ed Seifert (Speed the Plough) and Matt Davis  (The Thousand Pitties).  The album is called Sparks Like Little Stars, and I am just digging into it, and I am loving it.  More to come.
