Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

As promised, I am going to kick into a higher gear in telling you about the Magnolia Roads American Roots Hoedown IV - coming at the end of this month.

The show runs two consecutive nights at The 5 Spot in East Nashville.  I am thrilled to be a part of this and to work with the awesome Magnolia Roads!

Both nights are a benefit for the Ben Eyestone Fund at the Musician's Health Alliance. There are some incredible silent auction items.

I will you to the Facebook event for all the details.

Today, I wanted to focus in on Friday night April 26 (right after Tim Carroll Rock n Roll Happy Hour)

The lineup for the first night includes FunkyJenn and the Fringe Benefits, Don Gallardo and How Far West, Chris Wilson and The Heresy, and The Truehearts!

Tomorrow, we will focus on Saturday April 27 - which will begin at 6:00pm and go until late. The night two headliner is the one and only Lady Couch!

Event details HERE.

Now, it is Monday and we have another top-notch Music City Monday shuffle.  Let's hit it!

"Shivers and Shakes" by Andrew Leahey and the Homestead

The multi-talented and finely tressed  singer-songwriter, guitarist Andrew Leahey recently released his latest album - Airwaves.  It is killer.  This one goes back to the previous album - Skyline in Central Time.
"Knock on Wood" by Anne McCue

Speaking of multi-talented.  Anne McCue is an amazing songwriter, an incredible guitar player, a radio DJ (Songs on the Wire airs Tuesdays from 10am to Noon on WXNA. It is also broadcast in her native Australia.  This is from her album Blue Sky Thinking.  I just everything about this album.

"Reach for Wine" by Runner of the Woods

Next up, we have our first E2TG listen to Runner of the Woods and their debut album, Thirsty Valley.  The band recently released their new single "Acadiana Girls".

"Destination Unknown" by Derek Hoke

Next up, the man himself, Derek Hoke with one of my favorite songs from his latest album Bring the Flood.  You can catch Derek Hoke, backed by some of Nashville finest, every Tuesday at The 5 Spot as part of $2 Tuesday.  It was one of the best weekly events in town.

"Birdie in a Cage" by Jen Starsinic

Next up, we have another from The Flood and The Fire by singer-songwriter Jen Starsinic.  This is a a powerful and moving song about coal mining.  Coal mining has been the subject of many great songs, and this is a fine addition to that cannon.

"Gatling Gun" by Kevin Gordon

Kevin Gordon is one of East Nashville's finest. This is a track from his latest album Tilt and Shine.  The "Poet-Laureate of East Nashville" has a way with words and a way with swampy music drenched in his deep south roots.
"Philadelphia Lawyer" by Loudon Wainwright III

The number of tracks on Loudon Wainwright's recent Years in the Making compilation - assures that we will continue to feature his music on Music City Monday for some time. This makes me happy.  Today, we have a cover of the Woody Guthrie song.

"Knockin' On Your Screen Door" by John Prine

Next up, we have the opening track from the latest album by legendary Nashville songwriter John Prine.  The Tree of Forgiveness was Prine's first album of his own new songs since 2005. It was released in 2018 and features contributions from Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires.

"The Sound of My Ceiling Fan" by Diarrhea Planet

Lest we forget Nashville's long history of great rock bands, we have another one from the late great Diarrhea Planet and their album, I'm Rich Beyond Your Wildest Dreams.  The band formed in 2009 and they played two farewell shows at The Exit In back in September.

"Free Ride" by Brett Ryan Stewart

Next up, we have another track from his Turn Turn (The Covers) album. This time, we have Stewart's cover of a song by one of my favorite songwriters - Nick Drake.  "Free Ride" was included on Pink Moon - the third and final studio album by the English singer-songwriter.
"Drunk on Love" by Bob Lewis

We close things out with a favorite song of mine from End of an Error - the latest album by East Nashville singer-songwriter Bob Lewis. Lewis as recently been touring out West including a few shows in Alaska. I have loved his songwriting since I first heard it, but I have to say this new release has blown me away.
