Music City Monday Morning Shuffle - Fight Me Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

It is now less than two weeks until the Magnolia Roads American Roots Hoedown IV.  As part of this year's hoedown, there is a silent auction - which is going on now.  There are several amazing items up for bid, and you do not have to be present at the Hoedown to participate or win.

HERE is the link to the on-line auction. Remember all proceeds go to the Ben Eyestone Fund at the Music Health Alliance. So get bidding!

Now, we head back into the Music City Monday shuffle.  It was a good one!

"Little Umbrella" by Anna Lindsay Sellers

We start things off on what was a chilly Monday morning in Nashville with a gorgeous song from Dark Roots - the 2015 album by Anna Lindsay Sellers - which was recorded live in the studio.

"Right Bell" by Justin and the Cosmics

Next we go back over a decade to Hanging Out in My Body by Justin and the Cosmics. Justin Collins is a noted producer and one of the most dynamic live performers around.

"Fight Me" by Bee Taylor

Speaking of dynamic live performers.  We have a recent single from E2TG favorite Bee Taylor.  This was the second of three recent singles - we featured "Heathen" a few weeks back.

"The Alienation" by Human Radio

The first time I heard the name Human Radio was about 30 years ago when I moved to Memphis. I would be driving around - trying to get my bearings and trying not to get lost - and I kept seeing these posters saying Human Radio. I didn't know what it that was, but it stuck with me.  When they released their debut album, I feel in love their music. The band subsequently moved to Nashville before disbanding several years back. A couple of years ago they reformed and as part of that reformation, they released a brand new album Samsara back in 2016. This is a great track from that album.

"Hysterically Speaking" by Andrew Adkins

I have been a fan of Andrew Adkins for several years now. This song is from his album To Become Immortal Then Die. Adkins will be playing The 5 Spot on Wednesday with Tommy Womack and Broomtail.

"Good Old Fashioned Pain" by Taylor Alexander

I have been also been a fan of Taylor Alexander for several years. The first time I heard him play was the same night I first heard Jon Latham.  We have previously featured a teaser EP from Alexander, but he has been hard at work on his proper debut album for a long time now, and it was finally released into the world on Friday. It is an excellent album, and today we have the title track in the shuffle. Taylor will be having his CD release show this evening at The Bowery Vault with the awesome Tim Carroll opening.

"Burning Star" by Julie Christensen and Stone Cupid

The first time I heard Julie Christensen and Stone Cupid doing this Tim Easton song, it was on the porch of the Frothy Monkey on 8th Avenue - which no longer exists. They were practicing for a radio performance, and it was amazing to hear. The song appears on the A Sad Clown album.  Julie Christensen has recently been touring with the reformed Flesheaters (she also appears on their new album).

"Tell Him" by Gina Sicilia

Next up, we have a track from Tug of War - the latest album by powerhouse Nashville blues singer-songwriter Gina Sicilia. The song is a wonderful cover of the 1962 performed by The Exciters and written by Bert Berns (whose songwriting credits include Hang on Sloopy, Here Comes the Night, Twist and Shout, and Everybody Needs Somebody to Love".

"Black Lady Blues" by Paul Burch

We close things out today with another wonderful song from Paul Burch's groundbreaking Meridian Rising album.  This track features the violin of Fats Kaplin.  Fats and Paul Burch will be together again this Saturday at The 5 Spot as part of the Fats Kaplin Gang show.
