*Note: The video playlist at the bottom of the post attempts to closely approximate the shuffle I listened to on my way to work this morning. When a video for a song was not available, I substituted another song by the same artist. When I could not find any videos by an artist, I included a related video or did not include a video for that track. This blog may reference unreleased tracks, however, no unreleased music is ever included.
Still counting down to the E2TG Residency

But first, Americana Fest is approaching like a runaway train. The Festival keeps getting bigger and bigger. Now there are official showcases starting on Tuesday. Lots of free parties, impromptu shows, unofficial events,
For readers not in the Americana world, Americana is kind of a catchall term for a variety of differing musical styles and genres all tightly or loosely connected to American roots music. Think country, folk, blues, soul, bluegrass, and rootsy sounding rock and roll. From what I understand, the event started as more of a business conference with a few night time showcases, but the showcases now dominate the week (it also used to be more of a long weekend event, but it is practically a week long event now). For sure, there is still a conference for folks still interested in that.
Anyway, enough about that - let's get to this Friday shuffle!
"Trial of a Poet" by Shane Dwight Blues Band
We start things off this morning with a track from No One Loves Me Better by Nashville based blues rocker Shane Dwight. Blues-based singer-songwriter music - good stuff.
"Galicticon" by Ummagma
Next up, a stirring instrumental from Compass by Canadian/Ukrainian band Ummagma.
"The Big Game" by Susan Gibson
Next, we have another track from The Hard Stuff by Texas singer-songwriter Susan Gibson. The album will be out on October 4. All about trying to play that BIG game.
"Stand Tall" by Jason Ringenberg
Next, we have the title track to the amazing new album by Jason Ringenberg. Having been a fan of Jason's music for over 30 years, I am so happy he has made this wonderful new music, and that I had the great pleasure to see him perform these songs solo in some great Nashville venues. Jason is heading to Europe (he may be there I'm not sure) for a run of shows with Jason and the Scorchers followed by some solo Jason shows.
"Dying to the World Again" by Golden Ghost
Next up, we have another track from The Big Sleep: Future by Golden Ghost (which is the project of artist Laura Goetz). It is the latest volume in The Big Sleep series of albums. It is gorgeous music.
"Jackson" by The Cravens
Next up, our Florida friends, The Cravens are back with a new album called The Dark Side of Love - which came out in August. We previously covered their 2018 album On the Line. Great to hear new music from these guys.
"Standing In for Joe" by TCandI
Terry Chambers and Colin Moulding of XTC with some live music from their recent tour. Standing in For Joe is a Colin Moulding penned song that his old band released on Wasp Star (Apple Venus Volume 2).
"The Weight" by Mrs. Henry
We have another track from The Last Waltz tribute by L.A. Band Mrs. Henry - this time it is The Band classic - "The Weight".
"Arcadia" by Helen America
Next up, we have a first listen to the forthcoming (November 8) album Red Sun by Seattle based freak-folk singer-songwriter and comic/zine artist Helen America. I am digging this a bunch and look forward to hearing and writing more.
"Song for The Girl With The Replacements Tattoo" by Leland Sundries
We close out the day and the week with some new music from some old friends. Leland Sundries released their latest album Pray Through Gritted Teeth" back in July. I caught Nick Loss-Eaton - the band's lead singer recently. The band will be in Nashville for Americana Fest. Got to love a girl with a Replacements tattoo!
