*Note: The video playlist at the bottom of the post attempts to closely approximate the shuffle I listened to on my way to work this morning. When a video for a song was not available, I substituted another song by the same artist. When I could not find any videos by an artist, I included a related video or did not include a video for that track. This blog may reference unreleased tracks, however, no unreleased music is ever included.
The E2TG 8th Anniversary Residency is almost over!
Huge thanks to everyone who came out last night, to Josh Gray and Meghan Hayes and their incredible bands, and to The 5 Spot. We have one more week of the E2TG Residency to go. Next Wednesday, we will have The Big Dumb and Microwave Mountain! It's going to be an epic night!
I am a bit short on time, so let's dive into the Trending Thursday shuffle!
"Good Old Days" by Randy Lewis Brown
First up, we have another track from Red Crow. It is easy to look back on the past through a haze of nostalgia. This song is a great reminder that those "Good Old Days" were not always so great - especially for certain group and people.
"Dreamed About El Paso" by Leland Sundries
Next up, we have a track from Pray Through Gritted Teeth - the latest album by Memphis (by way of Brooklyn) based Leland Sundries. Another fantastic song from this band we have been following for several years now.
"Expecting to Fly" by Medicine
Another from Scarred for Life - the new covers album by shoegaze veterans Medicine. This is a cover of a Neil Young penned recorded and released by Buffalo Springfield from the second album Buffalo Springfield Again.
"Darkness on the Edge of Town" by Tony Logue
Another cover, this time it's a Springsteen cover by Kentucky singer-songwriter Tony Logue from his Live on Red Barn Radio album. It is a wonderful cover of a classic song - released as the title track of Springsteen's 1978 fourth studio albun.
"Rose" by Anders Dahlberg
We have another track from Street Serenade from Norwegian artist Anders Dahlberg. Really cool production and a great song.
"Lovebound" by Flying Buffaloes
Next up, another from Loaded and Rollin' by Nashville based Flying Buffaloes.
"Big City Twist" by The Luckies
Next, we have a first listen to East of Eden by Montreal based roots band The Luckies. Cool stuff.
"Any Old Train" by Randy Lewis Brown
Our second track of the day from Red Crow.
"Shift Up Fatih" by Dizraeli
More goodness from The Unmaster.
"Jerusalem" by Taylor Barton
Next up - another from House of Light. Taylor Barton's album was produced by Tony Shanahan of Patti Smith's band and features G.E. Smith and Sarah Jarosz.
"Ferman Saved My Life (CUT!)" by Def Robot
We close with a track from Maker of Mountains by the UK band Def Robot. Cool way to close out the shuffle!
