Well, let's jump into today's shuffle why don't we.

"Rip It Off" by The Smoking Flowers

Two songs in the shuffle from The Smoking Flowers. Kim and Scott Collins recently celebrated their 20th Wedding Anniversary, and I had a Facebook memory pop up of what I believe was my first time seeing them live 4 years ago.  This is from their 2018 album Let's Die Together.

"St. Paul" by Jim Hoke

Jim Hoke is perhaps best known as an incredibly talented multi-instrumentalist and arranger.  He is also an incredible songwriter and performer.  This is a track from his 2018 The Floating Zone.

"Gentle On My Mind" by John Hartford

Glen Campbell made the song a hit in 1967 and 1968, but here is the song performed by the man who wrote it. The late, great John Hartford - who is buried in a cemetery off Gallatin Pike in Madison, Tennesseee - which I know because of a Tim Easton song. The story is that the song was written while Hartford was watching Dr. Zhivago but is not necessarily inspired by that movie.

"Tranquility Base" by Eric Brace, Peter Cooper, Thomm Jutz

An Eric Brace song about Neil Armstrong from Profiles in Courage, Frailty, and Discomfort - the first recorded collaboration between three top Nashville songwriters.

"Mortality Blues" by Josh Gray

This debut EP was released 4 years ago this week.  It was the first recorded work of Josh Gray that I heard.  In a little over a week, Josh and his band will be joining Meghan Hayes and her band for Week 4 of the E2TG Residency.  He will be playing songs from this self-titled release, songs from his 2019 full length debut (Songs of the Highway), and maybe some new songs.

"Build Your Own Road" by The Smoking Flowers

Next up, we have our second song by this powerhouse East Nashville band. From their 2019 release Snowball Out of Hell.

"Heaven" by Gina Sicilia

Next up, we have a track froom Tug of War - the 2017 album by East Nashville singer-songwriter Gina Sicilia.  Sicilia is a powerhouse vocalist and an incredible songwriter. A new album is coming which sounds like it is going to be out of this fantastically diverse - which you know I love.

"Midnight Lightning" by Amelia White

Next up, we have a track - going back to the album which gave Amelia White's band their name - Blue Souvenirs.  Amelia White is a solid rock among East side musicians and songwriters.

"Somebody New" by Michaela Anne

Next up, we have a track from the latest album by Michaela Anne - a singer-songwriter - who came to Nashville from Brooklyn - having lived in several places all over the world.  I have been digging this album.

"Karyn" by Andrew Leahey and the Homestead

Next, we have another track from Airwaves the recently released album from the multi-talented Andrew Leahey and his band the Homestead.  Leahey is a great singer-songwriter, an incredible guitarist, a journalist, and I know that is just scratching the surface. This album sounds fantastic.
"Carpet Bagger's Lullaby" by Brigitte DeMeyer and Will Kimbrough

We close with a track going back to 2017 and Mockingbird Soul - the incredible collaboration between Brigitte DeMeyer and Will Kimbrough.  A great way to close out this shuffle!
