*Note: The video playlist at the bottom of the post attempts to closely approximate the shuffle I listened to on my way to work this morning. When a video for a song was not available, I substituted another song by the same artist. When I could not find any videos by an artist, I included a related video or did not include a video for that track. This blog may reference unreleased tracks, however, no unreleased music is ever included.
And that's a wrap! Thank you to everyone who came out. Last night was a blast. The Big Dumb and Microwave Mountain were fantastic. We had a good crowd and a good time.
Thanks to The 5 Spot for being awesome as always. Thanks to everyone who came out throughout the five weeks. Thanks to Ben Arthur, Conrad y Skordalia, Ryan Sobb, Don Gallardo, Jason Erie, The Truehearts, Josh Gray, Meghan Hayes, The Big Dumb, and Microwave Mountain for making me look like I know what I am doing.
I have something different in mind for 2020 and our 9th Anniversary, but I am going to take some time to absorb all the goodness of our 8th Anniversary,
Onward, time for another Trending Thursday Shuffle - let's go!
"Mama's Boy" by Rod Picott
We start out with a reminder of why Rod Picott is one of our best songwriters. From his album, Tell the Truth and Shame the Devil. "Mama's Boy" really resonated with me - being a "sensitive" boy growing up."Take Me Away" by Chris and Adam Carroll
Speaking of best songwriters... We have another track from Good Farmer - the second album of 2019 from Adam Carroll - this time a collaboration with his wife and fellow Texas songwriter Chris. I honestly could sit and listen to Chris and Adam Carroll songs all day long.
"Crack the Red" by The Pull of Autumn
The Pull of Autumn are based in Boston after originating in Rhode Island. The project features former members of several notable bands including Throwing Muses, Boyracer, Seasurfer, Johanna's House of Glamour, and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. This is a track from their Afterglow album. We also have a newer remix of this track (with remix by Boyracer) which we will be bringing you soon.
"Dissect" by Helen America
We are just a couple of weeks away from the release of Red Sun - the new album from Seattle underground protest freak-folk comic aritst - Helen America. Red Sun is an ambitious project - combing music and art with expansive themes.
"Altadena" by Bonsai Universe
We have yet another track from Too Many Ghosts. The shuffle is really into Bonsai Universe, and I can't say that I blame it. This is compelling and cool music.
"Antiques" by Susan Gibson
Singer-songwriter Susan Gibson has written a wonderful reminder of the need to treasure our elders. I can be easy to see frailty and weakness, and fail to recognize the strength they have demonstrated and developed by weathering the storms of their wives. From her album, The Hard Stuff."Lotus" by Ummagma
Next up, we have a track from Compass - the new album from Canadian/Ukrainian band Ummagma. The duo featuring Shauna McLarnon and Alexander Kretov. Wonderful original music.
"Broken Wire" by Chuck Hawthorne
Next up, we have a track from Fire out of Stone by Austin based singer-songwriter Chuck Hawthorne. A wonderful song from a fantastic album.
"October Again" by Randy Lewis Brown
Next up, we have a seasonably appropriate selection from Red Crow by singer-songwriter Randy Lewis Brown. Autumn has always been my favorite season, and October to me - usually means the heart of autumn.
"Old Friends" by Triggers and Slips
We are still about a month away from the official release date of The Stranger from Salt Lake City based Triggers and Slips. Wonderful song here.
