Trending Thursday Morning Shuffle - Ketamine Taxi Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

*Note: The video playlist at the bottom of the post attempts to closely approximate the shuffle I listened to on my way to work this morning. When a video for a song was not available, I substituted another song by the same artist. When I could not find any videos by an artist, I included a related video or did not include a video for that track. This blog may reference unreleased tracks, however, no unreleased music is ever included.

Thanks to everyone who came out last night, and a big thanks to Ryan Sobb and Don Gallardo and their bands for making it a great night!  Next week, we will do it again, with full band sets from Jason Erie and The Truehearts!  We would love to see you there!

Now, on with the shuffle!

"Dressed Up As You" by Marty Wilson-Piper

We start out with a track from Hanging Out in Heaven by Marty Wilson-Piper (formerly of The Church). This was a Record Store Day reissue of his 2000 solo album.

"Second to Last Stand" by Meghan Hayes

Counting down to October 16 when Meghan Hayes will join Josh Gray for Week 4 of the E2TG Residency. It is going to be a great night of music featuring two of my favorite albums of 2019.  This is actually our last track to feature from Seen Enough Leavers. This album hit me like a bolt from the blue. I had gotten to know Meghan in the months before she released it, but I had never heard any of her music. So when she handed me a copy of the CD, I was like, "please don't let this be terrible" - I needn't have worried. The album is masterful and speaks difficult truths with a  beautiful spirit.

"One Horse Town" by Randy Lewis Brown

Next up, we have another track from Red Crow by singer-songwriter Randy Lewis Brown who was born in Louisiana and raised in Texas.  I am really enjoying this album - which was released last week.

"Cut Riley's Daughter" by Tony Logue

A good old-fashioned murder ballad from Kentucky singer-songwriter Tony Logue. It is from his Live on Red Barn Radio album.  The Lexington-based weekly radio program in its 18th Season and focuses on artists from Kentucky and neighboring states.

"Ketamine Honey" by Dizraeli

Next up, we have another track from The Unmaster by UK alternative hip-hop artist Dizraeli.

"Can I Still Miss Someone?" by Anders Dahlberg

Next, another great song from Street Serenade - one of two albums by Norwegian artists that we are currently featuring. These folks from Norway really know their American Roots music. Great song.

"I Want to Break Free" by Hafdis Huld

Icelandic singer and actress Hafdis Huld (formerly of the group GusGus) is back in the shuffle with another track from her covers album Variations. This is her interpretation of the Queen song - written by bassist John Deacon and released on their 1984 album The Works.

"Turtle Taxi" by Suggested Friends

Next up, we have the title track from the forthcoming (October 11) album by UK band Suggested Friends.  Their tag line is "Small choir of mostly lesbians".   Love this song.

"Of Purgatory and Perfume" by David J

Next up, we have another track from the forthcoming (October18) Missive To An Angel from the Halls of Infamy and Allure by David J (Bauhaus, Love and Rockets). This is a wonderful new record from a legendary figure in modern music.  In the video playlist is a live performance of David J with Peter Murphy performing the Bauhaus classic Bela Legosi's Dead.

"Sun and Moon" by Ring Ring Rogue

We close with a brief and awesome track from Talking in Installments by the UK band Ring Ring Rogue. A great ending to the shuffle.
