Featured Friday Morning Shuffle - Are You Having Fun Boys and Girls? Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

Reminder the Magnolia Roads American Roots Hoedown III kicks off tonight with a pre-party at Dee's.  Details and feature on Taylor Kropp (plus links to the first four parts of my preview and features on other artists can be found HERE.

Among the artists performing tonight at Dee's is Allen Thompson.  I went out (for the first time in over a week) last night for the last night of Allen's residency at The 5 Spot.  Maxwell Putnam opened -and as usual he was awesome.  Allen played with a ten piece band that he dubbed Lady Couch.  The band included Jack Silverman, Clint Maine, and Lilly Winwood, and the Nashville Horns. They played a loose, fun set of originals and choice covers. Pretty awesome for an early show (it would have been awesome regardless of the time).

Now, it is FRIDAY!  We have a very mixed bag of music to "Feature".  So sit back, as we take the week out in style.

"Dead Inside" by The Telescopes

We start things off with another track from Stone Tape by veteran UK band The Telescopes - led by Stephen Lawrie. The band formed in 1987 and are in the midst of a resurgence with two releases within the last year and several tour dates scheduled.  Good noisy stuff.

"All to Pieces" by James Scott Bullard

To get you ready for his set at Dee's tonight as part of the Magnolia Roads American Root Hoedown pre-party, the random shuffle brings up James Scott Bullard with another excellent track for his Full Tilt Boogie album.  Country, Southern honky-tonk rocker will hit the stage around 8:45pm tonight.  In case you missed, check our the feature and interview we posted earlier this week.

"Thrash Your Head" by Henry Metal

Henry Metal released seven albums and a compilation between April 2017 and February 2018.  This song comes from Metal O'Clock which was his fourth - it came out in August 2017.  I'm always up for some good Thrash.

"ss. tab" by We Are Parasols

Next, we have some industrialgaze music from We Are Parasols who are based in Portland, OR and Atlanta, GA.  Their most recent album is called Inertia.

"Old Fisherman's Song" by Lesley Kernochan

Keeping the shuffle as diverse as possible, we have California singer-songwriter Lesley Kernochan from her 2017 album A Calm Sun. I've really been enjoying this album. E2TG has been lucky enough to feature several great California singer-songwriters over the years.
"Diminished" by Raven King

From their self-titled album which was released late last year, we have Providence, RI alt-rock/grunge band Raven King.

"Guy Clark's Fiddle" by Ben de la Cour

Next, we have a track from one of my favorite albums of 2018, The High Cost of Living Strange.  This track is based upon a true story about a fiddle owned by the late songwriting great Guy Clark.

"Having Fun" (Mr. Strange Remix) by Flesh Eating Foundation

UK based EDM/Industrial group Flesh Eating Foundation are back in the shuffle with another track from their outstanding We are Fucked album.  This track is a remix by UK electro-rock, alternative band from the Isle of Wight.
