Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!
Guess what? It is Friday, and time for a brand new Featured Friday Playlist. We've had our ear to the ground and our nose to the grindstone sifting through our inbox, and we've come up with another diverse Playlist that features some old favorites and some new favorites. The Playlist spans the globe and crosses several genre lines. I hope you enjoy. If you like the playlist, be sure to give us a follow. More importantly, if you hear music you like - support the artist - buy music and merch, follow and share on social media, and when the time comes that it is safe - go see music live.
Featured Friday Playlist
1. "The World We Used To Know" by David Olney; Anana Kaye
The third single from the album Whispers & Sighs (due out in two weeks). This album is the highly anticipated collaboration between the late, great David Olney and Anana Kaye and Irakli Gabriel. I was fortunate enough to have first hand knowledge of how much these incredible artists respected each other.
2. "Carry the World" by Palm Ghosts
Next up, we have another new single ahead of next week's release of Lifeboat Candidate by Nashville's Palm Ghosts. Palm Ghosts are a great band playing really awesome post-punk music. It has been great watching and hearing their sound expand and develop over the last few years.
3. "Just Hanging On" by Peter Case
Next up, we have the sole original Peter Case composition from his new album The Midnight Broadcast which is out now. The album is mostly covers and echoes the kind of late night radio broadcast that first got me into music.
4. "Don't You Feel It" by Jon Worthy
Next we have a new single from E2TG favorite Jon Worthy. He has been consistently putting out new music over the last couple of years, and I have been impressed by it all.
5. "Customary" by Thirdface
From Do It With a Smile - Customary is a punk band featuring Kathryn Edwards who is the founder of Drkmttr and a former WXNA DJ. She is also a member of the band Donors.
6. "Compassionate Combat" by Susan Gibson
Next up, we have a new benefit single from E2TG favorite Susan Gibson which is a tribute to and benefit for frontline healthcare workers who have sacrificed so much to keep us all safe and cared for over the last year. The single features Adam and Chris Carroll, Walt Wilkins and more.
7. "The 70's Aren't Coming Back" by Victims of The New Math
Next up, we have the lead and title track from the new EP by a band we first "discovered" last year. Victims of The New Math is the project of singer-songwriter Thomas Young of Phoenix, Arizona. Cool music, inspired by GBV and The Rolling Stones.
8. "Absolutions" by Noah Young
Next up, we have some cool instrumental jazz/fusion music from this bassist from New Orleans. Wonderful track.
9. "Censorshit" by K7s
We start with a cover of a Joey Ramone penned song from the Ramone's 1992 twelfth studio album Mondo Bizarro. This is the lead track from a front-to-back cover of the album by this Spanish punk band. Nice stuff.
10. "Wild Womxn - Live" by Lee Taylor
We have been featuring New York artist Lee Taylor and we have previously featured a track from this new live album which is out today. This is the title track.
11. "Abilene" by Rylan Brooks
We have also been featuring new music from outlaw country duo Rylan Brooks for the last several months. Their new album If Wishes Were Horses is out now. The album was recorded in Nashville with some heavy hitters involved - including Guthrie Trapp and Dean Miller.
12. "You" by Epilogues
And we close with the title track from the brand new EP by UK artist/band Epilogues. It follows the previously released Me. Lovely music and a great way to close this segment.
