Wild Wednesday Morning Shuffle - Dogs Mix

Be sure to "Like" Ear to the Ground on Facebook!

In case you missed it, I premiered the new video from Ben de la Cour this morning.  Check it out HERE.

I have a long overdue album review coming soon and hopefully more on the horizon... one can only hope.

Last night was another fantastic $2 Tuesday at The 5 Spot. Carson McHone, Erica Blinn, Joel Adam Russell, and more including Allen Thompson filling in for Derek Hoke and playing with Derek's band (everyone wearing Derek Hoke-like cowboy hats).  Even DJ Tim Hibbs got in on the action singing one of Hoke's signature songs, "Lonely Street".

Last Friday, E2TG 2014 Artist of the Year, Darrin Bradbury made a last minute surprise appearance on the stage at City Winery Nashville. Just last night, E2TG 2015 Artist of the Year, Jon Latham appeared on stage at City Winery Atlanta.  I wish I could say that I am prophetic, but the fact is, I am really proud of everything both of them are accomplishing.  Both Darrin and Jon are going to perform in official showcases for Americana Fest!

Now, it is Wednesday... you know... when we get Wild because we are fed up with the work week and realize we still have three more days to go... Check out the shuffle, and see if it is "wild" enough for you...

"I Will Do My Last Singing" by 2 Ton Bridge

We start things off with another track  from the new album by 2 Ton Bridge (the last song on the album).  Alexander Wright will be in Nashville for Americana Fest next month. Great stuff.

"Some Kind of Sorry" by Grandmaster's Furious 5 ft. Melle Mel and Scorpio

Melle Mel is one of the pioneers of rap music.  He was the main rapper and chief songwriter for Grandmaster Flash and Furious 5.  Melle Mel and another member of the Furious 5 recently released this single. Check it out!

"Shoot Out All Your Lights" by Motorhead

Next up, a track from the final Motorhead album called Bad Magic which was released in 2015.  RIP Lemmy.

"Interpretive Dancing/Dogs" by Atticus Floyd

So, we have gone from some great pre-release roots music, to a new song by a rap pioneer, to a song by one of the bands that helped lead the revival of British heavy metal in the late seventies/early eighties.  Where to go from here... how about a short (now unavailable - I think - track via Dord Music Group).  Our video is an animated recounting of Atticus' first ever show.  This afternoon, Atticus and The Foresters will be performing at Athens PopFest alongside Robert Schneider of Apples in Stereo.   Oh, yeah, there are dogs!

"Through the Screen Door" by Joey Kneiser

Another cool track from Joey Kneiser.  This one is from his 2015 release, The All Night Bedroom Revival.  Good stuff.

"On My Own" by Made Violent

Made Violent are a rock and roll band from Buffalo, New York. This is a single that was released earlier this year. I quite like it a lot.

"Each and Everyone" by Everything But the Girl

How about this - the first hit single (1984) from British duo, Everything But the Girl off their debut album Eden.

"3rd Crusade" by Cowboy Junkies

From the live album, Live at Belly Up. This song first appeared on Volume 3 of The Nomad Series - called Sing in My Meadow.

"Nothing But Your Butt" by Ironing Board Sam

And we close with an unambiguous song via the Music Makers Relief Foundation.  Ironing Board Sam is a blues singer/keyboardist originally from South Carolina.  There are a lot of numbers in this song...
